wow 20 weeks already :)

i cannot believe i am 20 weeks already....every day im so grateful for making it this far...i found out today that at 24 weeks they consider the baby viable for life so i have 4 more weeks of worrying about that...i hope everyday that i make it much further then that

so my appt today....

doc was extremely late....grrrr....then he came in and was trying to rush me but the nurse who took  my blood pressure was concerned that it was low (84/54) and said to talk to the doc about it so i made sure to bring it up...he said it was ok as long as i feel ok...ok so what does low blood pressure indicate? or could it indicate?

baby's heartbeat was 139 and my uturus measured right at 20 weeks....i also gained more weight and at this point i dont care about my weight gain anymore....im going to try eating a salad for a meal again and stop drinking soda to see if that helps but im not worrying over it

i found out that calcium blocks out the amount of iron i have been taking so no wonder i have been so tired lately....

i go back in 4 weeks for my 1 hour glucose testing and regular appt...then after that ill be going back to the ob every 2 weeks until 32 weeks when i switch to weekly appts....its really getting exciting

next u/s is may 24 when they will check my cervix again and make sure baby is growing while taking heparin...i cant wait to see how much the baby grew since my last appt

Hi there,

Congrats - half way there !  Don't worry about the low blood pressure -  I have it too and the doctor and nurses aren't worried about it at all. Just don't get up too quickly or you might feel a little dizzy.  You might want to try cutting off the soda though if you're worried about glucose in your urine.  I had a "borderline" test result on my first glucose test even though I am eating healthy ( well, okay, just the occasional "treat" but, not much).  I cut off the breakfast cereal and bumped up the veggies/fruit and fibre. My last appointment they found a little glucose but, because my blood pressure is low and no other symptoms they said that my pregnancy is going  'perfect".  I love soda, I miss cola alot..... but, I figure since I've already stopped eating sushi ( fave )  and other things you shouldn't eat during pregnancy - what's another thing to take off the TEMPORARY list ?  A couple more months and then I can let myself "off the wagon" :D   I'd rather make some short term sacrifices now - or risk having diabetes in the future which would mean that I'd really have to control my diet - uh uh, not worth the risk .    Have another good 20 weeks - seems long but, I tell ya - the time flies by :D

babyjazz2010 - congrats on th3 20 week mark as well....shopping is sooo much fun...just got yet another outfit today...what are you having?

kathy421 - thanks for the advise...i will def make sure to rise slowly and enjoy the time...my blood pressure is usually always low but i have never heard it being that low....im sure it will be fine next time...i just worry because i have a blood clotting disorder and if my pressure is low does that mean my blood is too thick and not moving correctly?

Hello -

Congrats!

FYI:  you don't need to be concerned about your blood pressure unless you are symptomatic.
Your body continues to change throughout the pregnancy, your blood vessels will dilate (that's why many women will get varicose veins and will get swelling of the legs).
In fact, in the third trimester, the blood pressure should be low - if it is high, it may be dangerous and could suggests pre-eclampsia and toxemia.
I would recommend that you stay well hydrated, stand slowly, eat well and enjoy every second of it!

Me too!  Me too!  I'm 20 weeks.  Still feels like an eternity away, however.  I move this Friday.  After getting that behind me, I plan to start shopping!

That's great news! I don't think your BP is anything to worry about unless you start getting dizzy or have fainting spells. Try to relax and enjoy your pregnancy.
