hi maria,
i took zofran my entire pregnancy the last time as well.  when i brought him home he was spitting up so bad...eventually at 5-6 weeks he didnt even gain a pound (i fought like hell with a bunch of pediatricians that something was wrong) but they said its colic with reflux...needless to say he went back into the hospital at 6 weeks and was there for 5 weeks straight hooked up to a feeding tube and machine. they did a procedure and found he had a severe milk protein allergy and severe acid reflux. it was horrible...but that was the only thing wrong...nothing with the heart?

My baby had an unusual collection of heart defects.  The only medication I took in my entire pregnancy was zofran.  Does anybody has a similar case?  Thank you please write to ***@****

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you - I'm having a boy so YEAH!  You hang in there & I feel the same way about everyone telling me the same ol' just eat crackers/ginger ale routine. For some people it just doesn't work or rather it's not enough - darn it!  Take care - sorry about having to run after the little one - that makes things doubly harder.  Try to rest when your pre-schooler does.  I'm sure that you are LOL.  - jennifer (22w3d)

Sorry tricia448.  I havn't been home today.  We just found out about a week ago.  I have no idea how far along I am because I have one of those stupid calendars that you rip off each month.  Well...  I ripped off November so I can only guess when.  I think Im only like 5 weeks.  I usually start getting sick at about my 6th or 7th.  Then it hits like a truck load of bricks.  I cant stop vomiting.  A few times they had to sedate me to stop to give my body a break.  I know how hard it is to chase the kids.  You just want to lay down in a really dark room and just sleep through it.  Im surprised that your up posting this note because I know how hard it is when your so weak.  Im all for the Phenergan like 40smama suggested.  It didn't help my nausea that much but it would really put me to sleep.  I would vomit a few times during the night too.  So the Phenergan is a really good idea.  If you didn't have your 21/2 year old you could kind of dope yourself up with it but when you have kids you have to be alert darn it.  Just bite the bullet and try not to think to far ahead.  If you think "oh my gosh I have to do this tomarrow again!",  you'll just make yourself crazy.  Just take it sssssllllllllloooooooowwwwwwwww.   day by day by day.  YOU WILL MAKE IT!!  YOUR A CHAMP!
I will keep looking for you in more most and probablly check up on you.  Take care.

I'm 22w2d and still on Zofran everyday 8mg 3x a day.  I too ended up w/some iv treatment for dehydration & it helped tremendously.  I also took Phenegran at night.  I'm so sorry that you're this sick & that the Zofran's not working..  Maybe try Phenegran suppositories??  You'd have to talk to your ob as they are only available by prescription.  Take care and good luck - jennifer (22w2d)

I have had exactly what your talking about.  Its called Hyperemesis Gravidium.  Very awful.  I was really bad with it.  I threw up blood and also even broke my ribs because of throwing up so much and hard.  I had an IV here at home for the first five months of each of my pregnancies (5).  I was tried on Zofran 8mg. four times a day.  DID NOTHING AT ALL.  Its very expensive too.  If its not helping don't waste your time and money on it.  The only thing I suggest is getting rehydrated.  Sometimes just the dehydration will call alot of the nausea.  There were times that I was going in four times a week to the emergency room to get rehydrated when I didn't have an IV at home.  I would feel a little better after but it would last just a small time.  Your poor husband seems sweet.  When my husband would cook it would smell like a dead possum.  He would try so hard to run  and get something I may like and then I would throw it up quicker than I could swallow it.  I know it feels like torture.  Put your ultrasound pictures where your at.  Put something near you so you can remind yourself that your doing something wonderful and creating a new life.  I know that I would be so weak I couldn't even stand in the shower or walk downstairs.  REALLY difficult.  Im not sure why the Zofran wont work with morning sickness.  They can land on the moon.....  but....... they cant come up with a cure for morning sickness.  Take care and God bless.
