I do like that saying.. Is good way to try and keep you calm and relaxed. But I dunno if I agree with it. I had a very stressful preg with my fight. Lots of fighting and yelling and so on. But my daughter is a happy smart little girl. But do agree they feel your emotions. While fighting with the x she would become very active..

My Grandmother Says And Tells Me All The Time Wen I Cry Or I'm Sad ...So Is The Baby ! Wen I Get Pissed Off At My Boyfriend N Yell N Scream At Him It Upsets The Baby & It'll Make Him Mean! So I Try To Keep Calm & Laugh A lot !

I dont know for sure but i dont think the baby feels anything just your emotions maybe and no it doesnt harm the baby to shed a few tears=D
