The final thought about the last sentence was meant to be "if you do get pregnant because the tubes have come open again, there is a pretty good chance of an ectopic (tubal) pregnancy ... so if you get a positive on a home pregnancy test go see your doctor right away to be sure it isn't ectopic."

Well ... if your ovaries are still functioning, there will be eggs available.  If your tubal ligation fails, a sperm might make it through the breach and reach an egg.  I've read that when a tubal ligation fails (a 1% chance) it is more likely to fail later rather than right away, but don't know how accurate that comment is.

In short, if you want to get pregnant again, and are hoping your tubal ligation will simply come undone and you'll magically get pregnant, it probably won't happen.  Even the 1% that I have seen quoted (for ligations that fail) seems like a high number to me.  But if you have had a ligation and suddenly are having pregnancy symptoms (and have been having unprotected sex), it is not stupid to take a home pregnancy test.  Ligations can sometimes (not often) fail.  And if you do get pregnant because the tubes have come open again, there is a pretty good chance of an ectopic (tubal) pregnancy because the tubes might have some scarring that would obstruct the egg from reaching the uterus.
