I went for my monthly dr visit today and the dr was nice enough to have the u/s tech see if she could find out the sex of the baby.
The baby had its legs crossed, and wasn't willing to budge. Had I known I was going to have an u/s I would have chugged down a Coke beforehand! Anyway, the baby finally moved slightly (but didn't uncross its legs) and the tech was able to get a glimpse of "that area". She said she didn't see anything poking out, so he first guess would be a girl. HOWEVER, she was very adamant about letting me know that this was still too early to tell since the boys parts can drop anytime up until 18 weeks. She wouldn't give me a 100% sign that it was a girl, but said she would "lean" in that direction. Told me not to buy pink clothes just yet.
What do you guys think? A girl? Or is still that early? What are my chances that it IS a girl??
Yeah, that's what I figured! I told her I wasn't going to go home and paint the nursery or anything, but I guess I was just hoping that things would look a little more promising for the "girl"! LOL
I'm really hoping for a girl this time since it will be my last, but honestly I don't care as much as I did in the beginning. Another boy sounds nice, too. I already have clothes and stuff for a boy which would save me tons of money. I think I want a girl for my grandma more than anything, because all she has is 5 great grandsons! The first thing she says when someone is pregnant is "I hope it's a girl...I want a great grand-daughter!
(Plus, she sewed a quilt YEARS ago specifically for her first g-grand daughter...and I really want that quilt! ;-)
I had an u/s at 14 wks 1 day and was told that its was a girl. When i had my next u/s at 19 wks it was indeed a little girl so it depends on if the tech got a good look and the tech that did mine said that the boys dont start to drop until the 14th week.
Thanks, Brit...we have an appt with a local ultrasound place next week. Maybe we'll be able to see things a little more clearly then and know for sure about the sex.
I'll be 16 1/2 weeks at that point, so here's hoping!
i had my gender determination at 17.5 weeks and the tech said, "i don't see any boy parts so looks like a girl." i lost sleep over the possibility that they could be wrong because i have heard some stories.... at my next u/s, i made them double check and asked if they could specifically point out the labia (i've read that "not seeing boy parts" isn't a good prediction). sure enough, still a girl! thank goodness since she has a pink nursery and a closet full of dresses!!! at your next u/s, ask them if they can actually see the labia. good luck :-)
