1st time pap smear

hello!! il be  having my first pre natal appointment next week and im wondring if there gonna do pap smear , is it safe to do it during early pregnancy or i can refuse and do it after giving birth? ..and one thing i was diagnose last december for having mild pelvic inflammatory desease and i take medication for 2weeks and when i came back for follow check up the result is negative. should i mention this to my ob and im worried it may affect my pregnancy even i was already negative..pls need help!

They also test for STD's during that visit, so if anything is lingering around, they will make a note of it.  I would still tell the doctor about your history, so they are aware.

I had one at my first appt. last time - didn't pose any problems at all.

Paps are done at the first prenatal appointment. Every pregnant woman gets one- it won't harm baby at all.

I agree with her. It is definitely a probability that they will do a pap. I would definitely tell your doc about your pelvic in. problem. Although it might not be a problem now they still want a full history on you and your partners' side just to ***** any possible risk. Don't be ashamed or embarrassed. I read that one out of two women lie to their gyn/obs for one reason or another. It is good that you are going to your doc. After all, you want to give your baby the best start right? Yes, you will prob. have a pap done! I think every patient gets this done at there 1st appt! Im dont sure about the pelvic imflammatory, but def. tell your Ob!
