2 hour glucose test..

I am almost 21 weeks according to my lmp, but 24 according to baby's growth on ultrasound. I scheduled my glucose test today, and they automatically scheduled me for a two hour test on Wednesday... I thought the first test was supposed to be only one hour?! I tried calling my doctor to ask why and they said its standard procedure for their office but I still don't understand?.. When I was pregnant with my daughter I never did anything other than the one hour, so why is this doctors standard procedure the two hour? Is anyone else's doctor this way?

My doctor accredited me a two hour test at like 8 weeks. He said it was to test for gestational diabetes and other stuff because I'm high risk. My daughter was a preemie and diabetes runs in my fam.

Lauren, did your doctor give you a reason for scheduling the two hour test? Or is it his standard procedure too? And mines at 7:45am so I guess I'll be okay lol

It may just be something they do. All doctor's are different. The 2 & 3 hour test is more accurate. They may just do it to avoid having every patient come back if they fail a 1 hour test.

I really don't understand. I'm not overweight AT ALL. I have no one in my family with diabetes. I didn't have it with my daughter.. The only thing different about this pregnancy is I'm high risk due to previous unexplained miscarriages and a slight tear in my uterus, but that has nothing to do with blood sugar levels!
