I'm almost 21 weeks and the past couple of days I feel like I'm having a harder time breathing. I know what my asthma feels like and I know it's not this, it's more like I just can't take a full breath all the time, like I have to concentrate on it. It seems to happen mostly when I'm sitting down, like in the car or on the couch like I am right now watching TV. If it were all the time, I'd probably be really worried, but mostly it's just annoying.
I know in the third trimester the baby starts pressing on your lungs, but isn't it too early for that?
Yep, unfortunately this is one of many joys of pregnancy..
As your uterus gets bigger, everything in your stomach has less room..
You most likely wont get relief until after abby drops and not every baby drops before labor.
I've had this same problem for awhile now and I'm 23 weeks 3 days, except I feel better when I'm sitting and resting. It gets worse for me when I'm moving around a lot, going up and down the stairs, cleaning, trying to keep up with my 3 year old lol! etc. It is aggravating I agree. Just one more wonderful thing us ladies get to experience during pregnancy lol.
Im not sayinv this is correct because you will hear various things, but my midwife told us at ante natal that you shouldnt feel out of breath when doing nothing but its normal to feel more out of breath when your being active in anyway.. Also finding it harder to take a full breath when your baby is actually up in your ribs is normal too.. Relaxin as you near the end will do that too so finding it hard to take a proper breath is probs fine maybe you are carrying high!! Though if u get out of breath for no reason and it dosnt feel like your asthma.just run it past your doctor maybe ur asthma will feel a bit more yuck than usual just due to all the other madness going on in your body lol I dont no. Ul maybe just need to exercise a wee bit more.. All in all id say you are probs just fine and there us no need to worry :) .congrats and goodluck!!! :)
Thanks all for the advice. Asthma feels like constriction, like breathing through a straw is how I describe it, your lungs just feel tight. This is more like I can take a breath and don't feel any constriction, just can't take a full breath, definitely different. It does sound like it's pretty much just one of the not-fun parts of pregnancy, but I'll try to walk a little more and run it past my OB at my next appointment.
