I had premature contractions, stupid er said it was braxton hicks. dialated 1 cm every time, was at a 5 when they finally induced on my due date. Was given meds to stop them at 35 wks, but every time after stopped on it's own. Try to take it easy and avoid sex  which set mine off right away.

I had pre term labor starting at 29 weeks during my pregnancy.... the contractions were every 2 minutes and they were causing my cervix to open.  First time I had them I went in they gave me meds to stop the contractions and I was dialated to a 1cm.  They also gave me a shot to mature the babies lungs incase he came early.  I took meds daily to help contractions stop, and went in weekly for a shot because the contractions would come even though I was taking the meds.  I was on bedrest until I was 36 weeks and my water broke a week later.  So, I was able to carry my son until I was almost 38 weeks and by that point I was dialated to a 4cm (my son was born healthy 8lbs 3ozs).  To my understanding, it's normal to have contractions in your last trimester... it's your body getting ready for the baby.  You are right to go to the hosptial if they are frequent because if they do start opening up your cervix you are technically having preterm labor.  If they are not opening your cervix they are braxton hicks  or practice contractions and are normal.  If they are not causing you to dialate I would say making it full term is very likely for you :)
