28w pap and pelvic exam...Is this normal!? Do I need one at 28w when I had one at 8w!?

So, I see my ob every four weeks and at 24w, he told me about my glucose test that I would be taking at 28w and that was that.  My glucose is scheduled for Monday and I have an appoinment with him for my 28w appointment on Tuesday.  I just got something in the mail today to confirm my appointment for a pap and a pelvic exam!?

He gave me a pap at 8w pregnant and there were no abnormalities...Why on earth am I getting another and isn't it early for a pelvic exam?

I was hoping to get some input from you ladies before I call tomorrow to question if this is accurate...

THANKS!

Maybe it is just a generic reminder card that they send out to all their patients. You are only suppose to have one pap per year, unless something was wrong with your first one.  I would question it but it is most likely a mistake on their end.

Congrats on being 28wks!!!

Do you think a regular pelvic exam is normal at 28w?  I just don't want anything up there being disturbed ya know?!

I can see the pelvic but my paps have always been at the very beginning of the pg. Did you ask your dr why they were doing one so late in your pg?

My doctor did not do any kind of "exam" until the final weeks, just to see if Cooper had turned. I agree I would not want anything unnecessary up there either. It is just seems odd, that is why I still think it was an accident.

I'm going to call tomorrow a.m. to ask about it, but I just wanted to know if other ladies had pelvic exams so early on...I think the pap scheduled had to be a fluke because I had one with my first pregnancy last December, and then he did another one with this pregnancy when I was 8w and it was only 7 months after my pap I had with my first pregnancy.

Hopefully the pelvic exam on the confirmation is a fluke too!  I'll update tomorrow to let you know what's up!

And, I know my pap was normal because they send you the lab report so I know it is not because of an abnormal pap done previously...

I've had a few pelvic exams so far, two paps also, one in the beginning of my pregnancy then one about a week ago because I thought I was leaking fluid, I've had about 3 pelvic exams so far and I'm only 15W3D - my pregnancy is going completely normal too, so, who knows :]

28 weeks is kinda early, but they do a "pap" or a swab to check for beta strep.  But 28 weeks is a little early for that I think.  I just had my 28 weeks appt. yesturday and it was just a normal one, except it's when they schedule classes and tours at our hospital.  It could really be a mistake.  They didn't start checking me until I was 38 weeks and thats also when the dr did the beta.  I would call if I were you to just make sure.

He usually tells me what the next appointment is for and goes over stuff like that/this with me that is why I was so confused when I opened up my mail and got this pap/pelvic exam confirmation!  It is driving me slightly crazy lol  I can't wait to call and get it figured out!

Update...just called, it was an accident...someone put the wrong code in the computer for my appointment and I got scheduled for a gyn instead of an ob check...
