Let me warn you about those sterilizers though...there are certain toys/bottles/pacifiers that will melt in them. I found that out the hard way.
The dishwasher sterilizes bottles. Otherwise boil them in water every so often. I only sterilized bottles when I first got them, before I used them and we never had an issue. You don't need to buy any special equipment to sterilize bottles.
As for the ounces- if he's eating it and happy then no worries.
ya im gonna switch to liquid, we live with a friend of Dfs who is a heart surgeon. and he pretty much spoils us and buys everything around the house. but Im gonna go by the liquid stuff myself, i dont want him to feel obligated to do it when hes always used the powdered kind. and i just did bottles, and i took them apart, rinsed with steaming hot water. put them in the dishwasher, and rinsed them again with hot water after words so I feel more confident now. Bottles are hard work lol..
And Ashleen i might invest in one of those, I have something like that for my pacifiers. you put it in a container thing and heat it up for like 25 seconds and it starilizes it. I love it, its such a life savor since hes always spitting it on the floor. plus I also have pacifer cleaning wipes.. there made from food based ingrediants, so they smell like apples.. i love them lol...
Just switch to the liquid cleaner, it works better anyway. I can tell you from experience a few floaters every now and then isn't gonna hurt him :)
go to walmart or target and buy a steam sterilizer...you use it in the microwave, it's like $12, and it's REALLY easy to use and clean. We bought one for my daughter and didn't end up using it all that much but it really does work so you can always try that if you're still worried :). They make more expensive ones that have their own heating elements, but the microwave one worked fine for me.
hi there i have 5 kids they where all eating 4 to 5 oz every 2-3 hours that was at 2 weeks old lol....
Yea I use the dishwasher. but i still feel like its not enough, cause we use the powdered cleaner. and sometimes i gets stuck on the cap or somethin after the wash is done. I never feel that way when i wash them in my moms dishwasher cause she uses the liquid kind. idk i guess im going crazy lol. but i was feedin him ealrier and there was something in his bottle, i dont know what it was, and im driving myself crazy trying to figure it out. and theres like water or stream in the bottle after words so i always find myself wondering about that, even though i know its just water. and yea i always take them apart and rinse them with steaming hot water.
How are the bottles cleaned? If you run them through the dishwasher by themselves, it heats up enough to sterilize them. Otherwise you can just boil them for 5 minutes and that gets them as sterile as they can be. They also sell bottle sterilizers. I usually just use the dishwasher. With my oldest we didn't have a dishwasher so I washed and boiled them. Never had an issue with them getting sick from something on the bottles. Just make sure that after each feeding you disassemble the bottle and rinse all of the parts really well so the formula doesn't sit on it.
To answer your "idk what to do" - relax!!! You're doing fine. There's no need to over analyze everything (though it's hard not to do with your first child). Take a deep breath, tell yourself "I'm a GOOD mom, becuase LosingmymindinGA (and a bunch of other son medhelp) TOLD me so" :) then pick up that handsome lil man of yours and just enjoy him.
okay that all sound the same as my son. but he wants to eat every 2-3 hours. and i recently have beent hinking im not comfortable with the bottle ordeal, i feel like there not clean or santized enough, i dk what to do
I don't remember spcifically but I remember that all of them but my first (who had a few issues) would increase the amount they ate atleast once a week for the first month. If I remember correctly my last one was up to 4.5 oz by a month old and he would eat every 3-4 hours. Sometimes more.
how much were ur kids eating at 3 weeks if u can remember lol
If he's eating it then I don't think it's too soon. Some babies eat more than others. If he continues to do well with 4 oz then I don't see anythign wrong with it.
