36 weeks & odd symptom

i will be 36 weeks on wednesday (2-13-13) and i did a self check tonight. my cervix was low, finger tip fit in the tip, very mushy and soft. i am having slight cramps off & on (honestly feels like braxton hicks) he is very very active. i am just curious if this is normal at this stage in pregnancy or am i going to go into labor here real soon. this is my second full term pregnancy. please help, my next doc appt isnt for another full week.

Yeah that's normal, being barely dilated doesn't say much or being dilated at all for that matter, you could be at a 1 or 2 for weeks. But at least it's a sign your getting ready for labor.

Thanks. Im just curious about the cervix being so soft & squishy and a fingertip being able to fit in the opening. Im about to be 36 weeks and idk if this is normal at my stage. Also keep in mind that my water broke with my last preg at 37 weeks.

As long as the contractions are not getting stronger and faster then just have your bag packed but wait
