I had decided I wanted to try going all natural. But I wasn't totally against drugs. I was induced with pitocin around 9 am. Went until about 1pm then they offered me an IV pain reliever. I said why not, a little bit won't hurt the baby. An hr later that wore off and I could not stand the contractions after about 30min I got the epidural. It started working right away and I was numb waist down in about 10 min. One leg was number than the other! Lol the last hr was relaxing then I got that feeling like I needed to go #2. The nurse said that means its time to push! I pushed her out in 19min. The doctor kept telling me to stop bc I was pushing too fast.. the epidural was taken out and I regained feeling pretty fast. Got up to pee a couple hours after I had my daughter.

There's risk in everything there is risk in a natural birth too. Not everyone has a bad expeirence with epidurals. I felt when I needed to push! Epidural does not stop all feeling just pain. You feel pressure you feel when to push and you can push. I didn't get Hemroids, it didn't stop my progression, my baby came out healthy. Some people blame the epidural for things but u never know if that was going to happen anyway, such as stop dialating people can go natural and be in labor to long and have to get a c section some women can't push that long some women have big babies some babies heart drops or whatever the case does not always link to the epidural but it gets blamed for it because some women need something to blame for their labor for not going as planned... As if that's possible to begin with. No one is better then anyone else because of the way they choose to give birth. Ive been in past forums where it's been no meds vs meds, breast vs formula and it's quiet annoying reading people bash something they heard something about or haven't experienced first hand.

A friend of mine had to have a c-section because once she got the epidural her labor just stopped progressing...another friend of mine didnt regain feeling in her left leg until a week later...so she was stuck in the hosp...thanks to those two experiences which i was there for...i will never get one. i had my daughter completely natural and will have do the same this time around!! the percentage is low for bad things to happen...but someome falls into that percentage...scary!!

I wont be having one, my mum had s bad experience when she had my brother. They placed it in the wrong place caused a lot of pain and she passed out. Now she has problems with her back which are only getting worse and that was 6 years ago x

I had the epi with my only baby after 4days of labour there r plenty of good reasons to get 1 but there r the bad reasons too. Grate thing yeh u have no pain but when wen it comes to feeling every thing I think the pain would b 10x worse only simply because u can't feel where ur supose to push from n most females with there first epi end up with hemorrhoids because u seem to automatically push from behind and not the front. I did have alot Of pain afterwards but ppl r different good luck either way.

I had a good experience with the epideral but i think if your not sure about it you should go into it with an open mind either way... start out trying to go natural and research the technics that could help you out...you never know till you try... if you really dont feel you are prepared then get the epideral but either way your HAVING YOUR BABY! thats all that matters!!

All I can say is make sure the person giving u the epidural has done it for years!
I had three. One with my first son, one for a miscarriage, and one for my twins but that last one that dumb ***** did it three times and I know I didn't move, with that last one it didn't work cuz Sue probably didn't do it right, so thank God my twins were tiny and it was a breeze.

I havent had one and I think it depends on the type of delivery you want, here in australia they encourage you to be up and active throughout labour and hardly any babies are delivered on a bed anymore unless there has to be medical intervention, even with those that choose an epidural they are giving low dose ones so your still able to be active, which reduces the need for episiomoties etc :)

I had one with my first the pain was gone and I could talk to my family and enjoy the experience and I still felt the pressure and knew when it was time I am going to try to make it longer this time wittout it just so I spend less time stuck in the bed but I do plan on getting one

Epidurals are a God send! Don't end up like those who cry for it when it's to late! Nothing wrong with getting them or feel bad about it. You are strong and whatever u want is the best choice for you!

#3 baby and I will be getting an epidural

I had a good experience with my 1st, horrible with my 2nd, the anesthesiologist took an hour and had to put it in numerous times and hit multiple nerves my legs were twitching and once it was in position my blood pressure dropped dangerously low and to top it all off i felt everything. For about 4 months after my epidural i had severe back pain and my back popped. Ill definitely be going with out this time.

I had an epidural with my first and plan on having one this time too. I have no problem admitting I'm not that great with pain, I think it's great there are women out there that can do it without anything, I'm just not one of them. I had no problems with it and I was still able to feel the pressure and knew when to push. Good luck with whatever you decide.

I caved and got one placed after about 24 hours of labor that was augmented by pitocin... I was worried that I wouldn't have the energy to avoid a c-section but the epidural didn't work! Even so, I was confined to the bed which I didn't like after being able to walk around, get in the tub, etc for hours prior to that. Ultimately, I remember getting the epidural as being the worst part of labor and delivery so just plan on avoiding it this time.

I took the shot it was worth it..I was able to to rest during my contractions.but only bad part about it was that it made me itchy all over and everytime I itched my skin felt like it was burning..
