4 months pregnant and taking xanax regularly

I am now 4 months pregnant and have been on xanax for almost 2 yrs. I have severe anxiety and irritability almost everyday. My psychiatrist said it was okay and just lowered my dose of 1mg. 3 times a day. my question is, will my baby be okay or will it harm her/him since i am in my second trimester? Please help!

I am 18 weeks pregnant and was not on any medications when I found out I was pregnant. However, I have taken Cymbalta for anxiety in the past. I asked my Ob today during my visit if there were anything I could do for my occassional anxiety.....with out hesitation she said she would prescribe me 0.25 xanax. She said that the xanax will kick in quickly and help with the anxiety and then wear off, that I should take it only when needed. I decided to read the paper that was stapled to the bag my pills came in from the pharmacy, and only then did I realize that the xanax was bad for pregnancy.  Now of course I am confused because I've read several posts from people who were taken off completely when pregnant....but my script was straight from my OB.

I was told not to take Xanax at all and my pills were only .5. Call your obgyn and ask them what they think.
