That is very normal. I went for an ultrasound at 4weeks 2 days and all you could see was little fluid pockets. I went back a week later and saw a gestational sac and a yolk sac. I went back a little over a week later and saw a little heartbeat on the screen so I think you are right on track and you need to probably look into getting a different doctor. You should at least have 2 blood tests in early pregnancy just to be sure everything is okay! Good Luck and GOd Bless

I did not see a heartbeat at 5 weeks 2 days.  At 8 weeks 2 days everything is wonderful!

I still think it is just too early!

You should see a sac at 4 weeks and I saw the fetal pole as well but no heartbeat until 5 weeks 2 days. You could be behind or they need to check to see if the baby is somewhere else but they need to do blood work! So they said all they saw was the egg or follicule in the ovaries?

no the ultrasound was ordered by my dr to be done at an imaging center, and thats what i thought. i knew it when i went in there that i would see nothing but just to see absolutely nothing at all except the corpeus luteum, which doesnt really tell much cuz i can still be a sign of your period which i was supposed to start yesterday. and there was also a thickening of my uterine walls so im hoping i can hurry and get these 3 weeks over with and start this show already.

I know what you mean.  Last year when I was having a miscarriage I called the er & they said not to bother comming in cause there was nothing they could do anyway....  stressful isn't it.

It's true though.  if they aren't rising, there is nothing they can do.  This prob isn't the case with you!  Try not to worry.  it is NORMAl to see nothing right now!  A lot of Offices wont even do an ultra sound cause it freaks so many women out for no reason.  I'm really suprised they did an ultra sound at all... Was it done at the ER???  Why would they do it so early.  There is nothing to see yet.

Wouldn't make a difference? In regards to what. A doubling hCG level shows a positive for pregnancy and to make sure it's doing what it should. But some places just don't routinely do them for anything. My midwife doesn't nor does my hospital, but that's just them. Hm... Have they set you up for another scan then in the coming weeks?

i went to the er to see if i could demand some blood testing and they said that even if they did see that my hcg levels are rising it wouldnt make a difference, which i thought was bs

you shouldn't see anything yet.  I never got a blood test on my first visit with my daughter either.  I think it is all normal.  Most docs make you wait until you are 8 weeks before they do anything.

You might be earlier than you think. If you're 4 weeks, it's not surprising there's nothing on the ultrasound. Normally it's best to wait until you're at least 8 weeks and further for this reason alone. It makes a lot of women nervous and panic for no reason. Did they set you up for another scan in a few weeks? Also, you can see another doctor and demand blood testing be done to check and see if your hCG is rising.
