that is weird that because you had brown discharge that they told you you had a threatened M/C. Way to get you stressed, geez.....some Dr. have no bedside manner. Brown discharge is not usually something to worry about, it is really common, especially around the time you would normally have a period. What you need to be worried about is heavy bright red blood, cramping, and passing blood clots. Until that try to relax and take care of yourself! Follow up with your OB if you are still worried.

A good majority of us are diagnosed with "threatened miscarriage".  I have been with all three of my pregnancies.  Doctors, especially NON-OBGYN ER doctors, come to this diagnosis when there is any bleeding or spotting in the first trimester.  This can be from any source, usually.  Most of the time (when it is brown) it is left over implantation bleeding and should cause no harm.  Sometimes it can be from a hematoma, which also is usually no cause for concern.

Unless they said you had a miscarriage, then you are still pregnant.  I would follow up with your regular OB.  Get blood work, possibly an ultrasound.  If you visited the ER then have them send over you paperwork.

what gave the diagnosis of threatened miscarriage? did you have bleeding before this morning? if you had heavier bleeding that was red in colour then this could be why.
are you having your levels checked to see if they are going up?
