5week 6days pregnant

I went to the doctor the other day and had blood work down to find my beta-hcg levels are low. (927) The doctor said they are suppose to double in 48 hours that if they don't something is wrong. Can anybody explain what those levels are for? And how bad it is if it don't double? It's my first pregnancy Nd I'm confused

Mine was 4,000 and it measured five weeks and one day.  According to my lmp I was supposed to be six weeks. If you pay too close attention to your hcg numbers they will drive you crazy.

My first blood test was 64 and the doc and I both thought I was almost 6 weeks. That meant it was really low. He sent me for an ultrasound and I was really only 3wks and 4 days on the day of the blood work. They checked my levels again later and they where much higher.

I will be praying that everything goes good for you. Don't stress until you have another blood test. That can only cause you problems if everything is good.

You'll have to wait for your next blood test to compare the numbers. They should roughly double in 48 hours. From experience, mine doubled with my pregnancies in the beginning (4-5 weeks) and then the doubling slowed once I reached about 10,000. I had spotting with all of my kids, so this is how they monitored me. If your numbers don't double, they'll probably continue to send you back for testing. My doctors wouldn't send me for ultrasounds until my numbers were higher (30,000) because it can lead to more confusion and worry if you have an ultrasound too soon. As for the 927 being too low for the amount of weeks you are, every woman and pregnancy is different and unless you know exactly when you concieved, it's impossible to know how far along you are. Your dates could just be off a bit. Godd luck with everything! I know it's a stressful time- I've been there...

well in 72 hours the hCG should double and in 48 hours should at least go up 60%... sometimes when the numbers are not increasing properly its a red flag that the viability of the pregnancy may be comprimised... In 85% of normal pregnancys this is true, but that leaves 15% of normal pregnancys that dont always follow this rule... because at this time you dont have anything to compare, its hard to say if there is anything worng... if the numbers go up but not doubled then they may monitor them longer to see what they are continuing to do, if the numbers go down then that isnt a good sign... As your numbers may be on the lower end they are still in the normal range for 5 weeks, because there is no way of telling at this time that anything is wrong i would try not to worry about it for the meantime as like i said your numbers are still in the normal range... with the next set of numbers you should have a better idea... good luck

There is great variation in levels of hcg in early pregnancy. It isn't the actual number that matters in these results, but rather the change in values.

As stated before, doubling of these numbers should take place every 36-72 hours. A quantitative hcg test measures the amount of hcg present in the blood. To see if these numbers are doubling at a proper rate, your health care practitioner may administer blood tests every 36-72 hours if he or she feels that your pregnancy may be at risk.

Here is what i found i hope this help and like it says its not the number it is what happens to it such as the doubling in 48 hours day
