6.5 weeks, sac without baby. blighted ovum???

hi girls, forgive me if my posts are becoming redundant...  if you have been following my story, i had spotting when i wiped (brown only) for 4 days almost 2 weeks ago.  as of now, i had thought i was just over 7 weeks.  had a transvaginal u/s last week, saw sac, no fetal pole.  went back today, a week later.  same thing, sac, no fetal pole.  doctor said my sac is measuring at 6.5 weeks and "no evidence of miscarriage."  he said to be "cautiously optimistic."  i swear i'm just over 7 and am thoroughly confused but that is an entire other story.  my questions are:

1.  could it really be too early to see a fetal pole via transvaginal u/s at 6.5-7 weeks??
2.  does this sound like a blighted ovum?  if it does, will i start bleeding?
3.  could my sac be measuring small because i stopped growing at 6.5 weeks?

i have another u/s scheduled for next week (on my birthday which could end up being a mistake!!).  he said by then we should know for sure if it's a good or bad thing...  i'm so afraid and this has been dragging on for weeks.  with my daughter, it was pretty much pregnancy by the book, nothing scary.  this time, it's been pins and needles the entire time!

thank you so much for your post!  that is just what i needed to keep a little hope.  i so regret having early u/s with this one, the only reason i had done it was because i spotted (brown) for days and never really got preg symptoms other than nausea which i sometimes think is because i'm so freaked out lately.  i need to just RELAX!!  thanks again :-)

I wasn't able to see my baby until 8.5 weeks via ultrasound.
With my other 2 children, I was able to see them in the 5 week margin.
Once they did see my baby(currently 37 weeks now) they bumped me up to 9 weeks.
I had 3 early ultrasounds with this pregnancy and the doctors were starting to imply blighted ovum. I refused to have another one until the 8 and a half weeks and would have waited alittle longer if I could have. All the worry was for nothing.
I also suffered from a blighted ovum 4 months before this pregnancy. I let nature take its course and mc'd naturally.
Babies develop at thier own pace and even can be hiding in there, think how small they are at that gestation.
Try not to stress out just yet.
All the best,

i think i'm closer to 7 weeks.  my sac is measuring at 6.5 weeks.  i've heard a few people that didn't see the fetal pole till after 7 weeks so i hope i'm one of the rare few...and just hoping to hear some other positive stories because i'm feeling pretty negative about this pregnancy and for some reason am still trying to hold a little hope.

You should be able to see a fetal pole at 6.5 weeks. The baby is big enough by then to be seen.. Maybe you aren't as far along as you thought you were?

i'm definitely not doing a D&C.

so you think it's okay that we can't see baby, even thru an internal/transvaginal u/s?

i'm going back to dr. next week for another scan, according to him, i'll be about 7.5 weeks.  if i still don't see baby, i will keep going back.  if i'm miscarrying, i'd rather do it naturally.  i'm just super worried because we were able to see my daughter thru a regular u/s at 6weeks3days.
