8 days late -- still NEG hpt??
Hi ladies.... hoping you can help shed some insight on what's going on.
I am 8 days late. I have taken a bunch of hpt. I used the "-/+" sign ones whcih all turned out neg. Then I used two tests that uses the one vertical line to indicate pregnancy. The first one was a clear NEG, the second one looked like a very faint pos (VERY faint vertical line) - even my husband saw the faint line. HOWEVER, I tested two days later with the "-/+" test and it was a clear NEG. What is going on??
I'm usually never more than 2 days late. Nothing has changed in my lifestyle recently. Right around the days when I was supposed to be getting my period, I felt my usual period symptoms - sore back and lower abs - but no period. I remember feeling like this when I was pregnant with my first baby around 2nd and 3rd trimester. With that, I got an early positive with the hpt. I'm thinking of going to see the dr tomorrow and ask for a blood test.
What do you think? Could it be a false positive?

im sorry!! i know how that can be disappointing! thats happened to me several times just when i was convinced i was pregnant. good luck to you!!

DH and I had sex last night and this morning I got a surprise: my period! =( So I wasn't pregnant.......wonder what happened??? so odd that sex can trigger a period.

oh and one more thing i didn't see your last question. its possible that it was a false positive but if it was an actual positive result you were seeing its very unlikely that it would be false. those tests are designed to pick up excess amounts of hcg in your urine and if it thinks it has picked up some then it probably has. false positives hardly ever happen.
im not sure about the very faint line you saw on the positive test. how long did you wait to look at it? your not supposed to read the results of a pregnancy test after 10 minutes because they can change.
but also i started my period august 11th and i was several days late for my next period and i took two hpt and they were both negative. but then i waited till i was 13 days late and i took another one and it was positive. when i went a got an ultrasound they told me that i was 5 weeks along but really i thought i was 7 weeks and they concluded that i ovulated late. this could very easily have been what happened to you because that is the reason my tests showed up negative...i actually ovulated and conceived a couple days before my missed period so thats why my hpt couldn't detect any hcg yet.
i would definitely go to a doctor to get a blood test. i did that once i got a pos hpt to confirm and it will give you peace of mind about the results of your test. :) good luck to you! post back if you want with the results!
