You'll be fine.....Just remember it is as important for you to follow up with your Dr not ONLY for you baby's sake, but yours too. That's why we are suppose to have yearly paps...
I am still really scared! I dont want to go to my doc appt on thursday now! but at the same time, I need to for my child! I will keep you guys informed and let you know!!
If she is going for a biopsy then they are going to pinch (sounds gross) off the area that looks abnormal and test it. Then they will go from there depending on their findings. You shouldn't be freaked out though. I think knowledge is power and it is good to be educated about this because it is just sooooooo easy to contract. The good thing is, there is treatment. Keep in mind it can take years for it to turn into cevical cancer. That is why it is so important to be open minded about it because the earlier it's caught the better.
Gosh...I scheduled a pap for next tues...now im freaked out! lol And my cousin just went for her and it came back abnormal so shes going for a biopsy today. Is that what they would be doing?!
Getting a sexually transmitted disease DOES NOT mean anyone was unfaithful. Your partner could have had it prior to you and him not even know it. It doesn't mean that anyone has slept around on you. Your previous partner could have had it even and it just now show up. It can take months even years to develop. Until they take a biopsy, they won't even know if you have it or not. And it is treatable, just not pleasant.
You'll be fine....Just make sure you discuss it with your Dr. He should be able to provide you with pampets about it...
NO! im not even sure if I have it, but my doc said thats most likely what it is becasue I had an abnormal pap, I dont have warts inside or out, but I have only been with one partner since my last pap before i got pregnant, and I was fine, and I know for a fact he is a faithful man..I dont know how i would have gotten it! IM confused
Your leg going numb is because your siatic (spelling?) nerve is most likely getting pinched with extra pressure of baby and baby "stuff" like amniotic fluid etc. Though you arent far along it can start early. I have problems with it on both sides as well. You may be able to check with a chiropractor and tell them you are having the problem, that you are pregnant and you would like to be adjusted. As long as they know you are pregnant it can be good for you to get adjusted during pregnancy.
HPV is a sevually transmitted disease. People, men and women alike can have it and not even know it. There are no symptoms unless you get the virus on the outer part of the vagina. They are itchy and sore. But don't be mistaken, if they are only on the inside you may not even know you have them. They are a wart and on the penis you may not even see them. Them may or may not be visible to the naked eye. It has become very common in the U.S.
They can be passed to the baby during delivery. It's very important to see the Dr and have treatment. As for being harmful...Would you want your baby to have a sexually transmitted disease?
Is HPV a sexually transmitted diesease? and my baby can get it?? is it harmful to the baby?
It's very important. My mom died of cervical cancer when I was 14 due to HPV... I also had it when I got raped and pregnant by my ex..... I have had a colposcopy done and it's uncomfortable.... But it's how they detect cancer... Not to worry you... Sometimes it's just dead cell's on the cervix that can cause it ... Let us know.
I had a colposcopy sever years ago, and like some of the other ladies mentioned..it's not comfortable by any means,...and I too had some brownish discharge following it...but I always do even after a PAP...They take like a hole puncher type thing and clip off a little piece of the cervix....It does hurt, but I wouldn't say it's unbearable....Just another lovely thing that us women have to deal with! Good luck!
One more thing. HPV is treatable...I have been in the clear since 2002 when I went a step further and had a cryo done. That is where they froze my cervix. I had a baby in 2005 and one on the way. It has never returned. If the test comes back HPV, don't panic. MANY and I mean MANY women have or had it and never admit it and some don't even know they have it. I just choose to share my experience in the hopes of helping someone else.
If you've seen the "One Less" commercial for a vaccine for young women that have not yet been sexually active...That's what this vaccine is for. My 12 yr old daughter is in the middle of this 3 shot treatment. I'm trying to protect her from something that has become so common in todays society.
It this was too much info, I appologize....
I found a really good definition of the procedure that might be helpful to better understand. I too had a colpo in 2002. I wasn't as lucky as the other young ladies. My "EX" husband gave me HPV. It is very important that you have this done. Reasons for a colpo are: the cells indicate dysplasia or cancer, evidence of HPV (human papaloma virus, this being the most common) or atypical squamous cells of undetermined significance. It is important to keep in mind that if you have HPV, it can be passed to the child during birth. I urge you to discuss it with your Dr further. One thing to consider is the baby is in your uterus and the biopsy is done on the cervix. If I'm not mistaken, there should be no problem having the porcedure done while pregnant. Certain strands of the HPV can cause cancer untreated. I hope everything works out for.
Colposcopy or colcoscopy is a medical diagnostic procedure to examine an illuminated, magnified view of the cervix and the tissues of the vagina and vulva. Many premalignant lesions and malignant lesions in these areas have discernible characteristics which can be detected thorough the examination. It is done using a colposcope, which provides an enlarged view of the areas, allowing the colposcopist to visually distinguish normal from abnormal appearing tissue and take directed biopsies for further pathological examination. The main goal of colposcopy is to prevent cervical cancer by detecting precancerous lesions early and treating them. The procedure was developed in 1925 by the German physician Hans Hinselmann.
oh yeah and everything came back normal. did you happen to have sex or anything within 2 days of your pap appointment? i think thats why mine came back abnormal the first time, but everyone is different too:)
i had a colposcopy 4 years ago...it was an outpatient procedure in the office. mine was terrible...but i am a complete wuss. it took around 15 minutes i think...but thats a long time with your legs spread open:) they do exactly what leighanne said, remove pieces from inside. then they put this stuff in there to stop the bleeding, which your doctor should tell you comes out everytime you use the bathroom for about a week afterwards. it looks like coffee grinds and peanut butter...really really gross! i am not sure if yours will be the exact same or not. i just remember at one point almost screaming to the doc to get it out of me. it was not extreme pain or anything, but very very uncomfortable. i would have to say 5 times worse than a pap, but again, i always get very crampy after normal paps, so you may be very different. sorry if i scared you...its not the worst thing ever, but not something i ever want to do again. i bet you will be fine...i just hate the doc and any pain.
Well it hasn't happend alot lately, but last week it was happening every time I would sit and got really bad when I would drive, it was weird! But thanks ladies!
I agree with leighanne on fetal movements---it was probably gas or something. Your baby isn't big enough at this point to give you a good kick.
Don't know about colpo, so take her word on it.
And you may be pinching your sciatic nerve when sitting/driving and that is making your leg go numb. DEFINITELY bring it up to your doc. But that is a common prob. You probably shouldn't drive if that happens a lot.
Thank you, Anymore opinions??
Thank you, Anymore opinions??
it prob wasnt the baby because with first pregnancies, it takes til your between 16-20 weeks to feel usuall.
A colposcopy is when they take a sample of your cervix and run it for tests further. it is like a biopsy, but they usually do not do them til after you ahve the baby since they are taking a chunk of skin out from your private area. There is also part of the test that they look very closly at your cells with like a camera, that part they might do right away. if they see abnormal cells they would scrap your cervix after you have the baby and remove all the abnormal cells.
I had the colpo but it came back fine so i did not have any scraping. our cells do change and shed every few years so manybe you are in that process and that is why they are coming back abnormal.
