Whenever I quit, I found it easiest to cut back on the number I smoked everyday, and then to switch to a kind I hated the flavor of. If I lit up, as stupid as this sounds, I made myself smoke the entire cigarette, instead of wasting money by throwing it out. I ended up being able to quit because when the urge struck, I would decide it wasn't worth it to have to taste the whole nasty cigarette, and therefore ended up quitting entirely. I also craved less because in my mind I knew they tasted horrible. Good luck, and dont let anyones mean comments discourage you!!

Smoking while pregnant is very bad just because your baby is born without health problems they will surely have them later in life known fact and if you smoke while your pregnant u do care more about yourself than your unborn child so FYI if your kid ever wants to smoke later in life u can't say aanything about it cause you made them addicted toit

I think the support system you have and the people that surround you also play a big part.  My partner and I have been smokers for years and the minute I found out I was pregnant I just quit and so did my bf. Of course I crave it once in a while but no one around me smokes now so it's easier for me.

Ladies, this is a support site.  The member clearly realizes that she should stop smoking and we all know no health care professional recommends smoking, pregnant or not.  You are free to offer helpful advice on smoking cessation, but it's not a place for judgment or debate.  Thank you.

I was a smoker before I got pregnant.. I will not judge but my advice to you is think about your baby when you put the cigarette between your fingers... it's all mental.. what helped me is I did research on it and even watch videos.. After my research I didn't want to touch another cigarette again... good luck!

I smoke too but am making a huge progress in trying to quit. I went from about a pack and a half a day to 8-10 cigarettes a day. I stopped smoking in the car, i stopped smoking in the house, i wait a while before smoking after meals, and a cigarette is not the first thing i grab when i wake up. I have also stopped smoking at night right before i go to bed. Plus i have now started buying generic brands of cigarettes, bcuz in my opinion they smell worse than most name brands, and the smell repulses me more. Plus i stopped smoking back to back. I try to have only one cigarette with hours before the next one. Chewing gum helps as well. I know that there are plenty of women who did smoke through their pregnancy and they were fine, but trying to quit smoking is my choice. I know its better for my baby, plus with the money i save from not buying so many cigarettes i can buy more baby stuff. I am hoping to completely be done with smoking before my son arrives.

Well ive never smoked but before i got pregnant id drink 25 pills that were addictive due to chroni rheumatoid arthritis. The day i found out i was pregnant i quit.i didnt sleep for months the withdrawal was awful but the minuite you choose to have your baby you think of their wellbeing first. You can do its hard your gonna want to smoke but think of your baby and all the negative things that can happen. Your childs health is in your hands.

mommy,  as with all statistics,  there are some that don't fall into the expected outcome.

Who knows how big those babies would have been had she not been a smoker.

Oh! And by the way...my sisters and I were all born 8lbs...people say babies are born early to smoking mothers...my cousin's 4 kids were all born late...my older sisters were born late and I was born on my due date.

Yes,  don't buy a vapor.

It's the nicotine that harms your fetus,  not the smoke.  The smoke harms your lungs,  and will harm the baby once it's born,  but for now it's the nicotine that's harming it.

Nicotine causes blood vessels to be constricted,  so while the baby is in your uterus it gets less oxygen and nutrients than if you weren't a smoker.  That's why they're typically born small.

I quit at the start and then started again. It can cause you to have a smaller baby I've cut down now to like 4-5 rollies a day. Just try and quit smoking weed is awful no offence a lot worse than smoking I think. Mayas well get drunk as well not good

Don't let people get to you hun I understand its hard to quit and even still now I have one every now and then because I'm super stressed yes there are chances that it could affect you baby but there are also chances that it won't my doctor told me actually not to quit cold Turkey because it actually puts more stress on you and your baby but to slowly cut down and cut down that way its a gradual thing. If your baby is doing fine no need to stress so much over it ok just enjoy your time being pregnant and u may just wake up one day and be like I don't need this anymore :) hope I could help

Omg !! I jus saw the comment that said buy a vapor! DO NOT BUY A VAPOR!! I have one that I used to quit smoking while we were trying the first time and I researched if u could smoke it while pregnant and u absolutely can not because its just concentrated nicotine going straight into your blood...absolutely terrible for.baby

Ditto I've been smoking since 13 & when I found out I jus stopped....its not what you want, you're making your unborn child smoke.. and the one idiot.on here saying there's no proof that it harms your baby , she's completely wrong. They tell you that as soon as you can stop.no.matter how long you've been smoking, you're always helping your baby in the end

My mom had 3 perfectly healthy daughters and she smoked while pregnant, my nephew was born very healthy, my cousin smoked while pregnant with all 4 of her kids and they are all very healthy, the week I quit smoking my dr said my son is bigger than average and is extremely healthy...he is even ahead of schedule! Now I'm not encouraging smoking but don't feel guilty if you can't quit...there is no guarantee that smoking is going to affect/nor not affect the baby

I had to completely change my surroundings in order for me to quit...I felt so guilty...but that doesn't mean you love your baby any less than a woman who doesn't smoke so don't beat yourself up! I know alot of people whose mothers' smoked while they were pregnant (me included) and nothing was wrong with the baby/babies.

Just cut down everyday until you no longer need to smoke. I know it's hard but put your baby first also don't let any one judge you is hard and different for everyone... jusy because you smoke doesn't mean you dont love your baby like i said it's harder for others don't stress and just cut down

Judging someone is NOT helping. Don't stress yourself about not being able to quit, that will just make it worse sweetie. I'm not condoning smoking while pregnant but if you have cut back it is better than nothing. I know women who have not cut back at all and had perfectly healthy babies.best wishes, stay calm mama.. xoxox

Just because a woman hasn't been able to quit smoking during pregnancy doesn't mean she cares any less about her baby than anyone else!  Everyone's life is different and may have stresses that others don't.  At least she knows it is wrong and wants to quit.  Who are any of you to judge! Unless you are walking in her shoes and living her life you have no right to treat someone like that.
