Advice needed

Not really sure where to post this question but I need some advice.
I am almost 34 weeks pregnant and was laid-off from my job on 6/30/09. They stopped my medical and dental insurance and I have been paying for my own insurance. Money is very tight right now and I actually had to leave my apartment becuase I couldn't afford it on unemployement. My question is about Medicaid? or is it Medicare? I am paying alot of money right now for Oxford and when my baby is born it will be so much more. I would really like to get help for insurance but not sure how. Does anyone have Medicaid or Medicare? How did you get it? Is there a website? Also is there one set insurance for everyone? I'm sorry if these are stupid questions but I don't know how to find this answers.

Also if anyone knows anything about WICK I would appreciate it to. THANKS!!

IM not sure where your from but at my work I've been helping people sign up for insurance.  It is actually a law in Ohio that if you are on insurance quit, get fired, or get laid off you have the choice to keep your insurance for a few months,  I actually can't think of the amount of months but it is the COBRA effect i know this because I was talking to the owner about this because of FMLA leave..so if you wanted to continue with insurance at your place of work you should have been given that option...

Here is a web site with some information about it if that is something that you were interested in.

Medicaid (MC+ specifically) is what you're going to need. You have to go to your Department of Family Services. You'll need to bring your ID, proof of pregnancy (laughable considering how far along you are, but they still need a letter from a doctor stating you are pregnant and when you are due), proof of income (last 3 months), proof of residency. I think that's it.

WIC is its own organization. You may be able to find a local one via your phonebook or perhaps there is a website where you can enter your zip code and find the nearest office. You'll also need the above items for your appointment. WIC, at least where I live, is by appointment only so you will need to call to set up an appointment.

i would try your county office like were social service is and see if you can get it they can go back 3 months for medical at least in my state i mean as long as your pregnant i think you qualify but you would need to talk to them it takes about 2 weeks or more to get approved but then you don't have the headache of bills for baby and you and such also wic (woman infant children) you should be able to find there number in the phone book that's were i found mine and they can help you out a lot you get milk cereal juice eggs peanut butter and that's just for pregnancy than they help out with formula juice cereal for the baby i love that program just look into it good luck and let me know if i can help you out with anything else

looks like your resource in your state is the department of human services and you need to go to your nearest office and speak with them about this, and fill out an application. WIC Is located at your local health department you just go in and get an application, as well.
