All day sickness only about two months

I am so sick I throw up several times a day and even in the night. I finally had to go to the emergency room and I was dehydrated. They gave me promethegan. I have heard that it is not very safe if pregnant. Has anyone else had an experience with that drug while pregnant. I know I have heard of  compazine and zophran. I don't want to have a child with a third arm or something.

This is the same as Phenergan....And it is fine as long as it's not taken consistantly.  My friend took it weekly during her pregnancy and her baby is just fine!

I hope this goes away for you....I'm 31 weeks and the nausea/vomitting has not stopped once......They gave me Zofran, doesn't work....I've decided to suffer......However, I have not become dehydrated like you, as I usually only get a sick a few times a week now.

Make sure that you don't become dehydrated again....Make sure that your urine is a clearish yellow, not dark and concentrated....And alot of times it's a sign if the veins in your hands and arms are poking right out (if that's out of the norm for you).

Take Care!  :o)

Are you sure they didn't give you Phenergan? That is typically what is given for severe sickness during pregnancy. Promethazine is another one but I believe that's typically in suppository form. I had hyperemesis gravidarum for 11 weeks so I am very familiar w/your situation. I went to the ER twice for dehydration; i was so sick I couldn't even hold down water/ice let alone anything else... tried phenergan for 1 day (hated it, made me feel loopy), promethazine (don't think it worked), Reglan (worked for about a week, then nothing), and finally Zofran. Zofran worked but caused bad constipation and tiredness. I ended up trying Anzemet and stuck w/that for the duration of my sickness. Sounds like a lot, but I was down 15 pounds and could hardly function. The sickness got to the point where it was dangerous for both me and baby. Don't be afraid of the medications. Of course it's best not to take anything, but sometimes circumstances are beyond your control. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise, because hyperemesis (which it sounds like you may have) is NOT anywhere near typical morning sickness. The good news is that my baby boy is very healthy and has had no problems. The other good news is that this WILL pass - I am living proof! Hang in there and do what you need to do. best wishes!

it is safe only if you are not taking as a daily medication and just as needed.  Since you are not tolerated food and probably the smell and sight of food either, you should really try to be on a liquid diet(broths, juices, and pleanty of water). At this time you really should focus on not getting dehydrated again.
