Yes, please let us know how everything went.
One way that can be used to get an idea if you are leaking fluid is to lie down for awhile with a clean, dry pad. A lot of times, if a women is leaking fluid she will notice wetness on the pad upon standing. Unfortunately, no method can be 100% definitive so when in doubt air on the side of caution and check with your doctor.
well thank you very much for your responses! i have to go in at 2:30 to get checked out. I will post when i get home and let you know what they say :). Thanks again
Very good. What you have described could be amniotic fluid but it could also be urine. Sometimes when baby moves it puts pressure on the bladder and causes it to leak. Hopefully that's all it is.
Yeah, i notice it more when she moves. its weird because when she does move it feels like she is actually putting her arm or leg out of my body and when she does i can feel a gush of fluid, its not alot but its enough so that in the matter of a few hours i need to change. When shes not moving i can still feel it periodicly come out. I called my doctors office and they are supposed to be calling me back when they have the time.
If it smells like sperm more than likely its discharge. Amniotic fluid doesn't typically have a smell and when it does its almost like a sweet smell. But if you are ever in doubt, as Victoria said, go to L & D. They can do a quick swab and test it to tell you if you are. One word of caution tho, if you do go and they test and say you aren't, but you still believe you are..wait until shift change and go back. They CAN be wrong, if they don't swab int he right spot. That happened to me, I was full term tho. Went in the morning they said i wasn't leaking..but my contractions got worse and I KNEW I was leaking fluid, went back at 330 that afternoon, my son was born at 6:54 that evening.
If you think you are leaking amniotic fluid, definitely err on the side of caution and call your doctor. It's a simple, quick test that can put your mind at ease. :)
