If your cervix is dialating that early they will put a stitch in it to keep it closed and will probably put you on bedrest. My friends daughter is pregnant now and was 7 cm dialated at 15 weeks so they put a stitch in, now she's 27 weeks and baby is still in there. It's actually pretty common a lot of women have an incompetent cervix. If I were you I'd find another doctor.

Did they say if there was something else wrong? Usually if you are just dilated they will put a stitch in to hold the cervix shut but the way they told you makes me think that there is something wrong other than being dilated

Well if you're bleeding and you keep dilating it may end in a miscarriage (inevitable abortion) but if you're only slightly dilated and your baby is fine and fluids are good, you should be able to get a cerlage or a stitch to hold yourself together and possibly be on bedrest or modified rest. You can maybe do some research and talk to a doctor about your situation. There are other women that have gone through pregnancy dilated and been fine. But like I said, inevitable abortion is just saying the condition will more than likely end in miscarriage and they can't stop it. So maybe get a second opinion! Good luck

If they told you it was an inevitable abortion than there may be something else going on as well, that basically means that it will end in miscarriage. I'm sorry that thIs has happened to you. Good luck.

Are you having bleeding and ruptured membranes as well? Or just dilation? I'd still discuss options. It is most likely possible to hold onto the pregnancy as much as possible and wait it out to see if your body can make it until the baby is ready or almost ready to come out, unless something more is going on

They can't force you to have an abortion... I'd maybe talk about other options, my friend was dilated to a 7 almost her whole pregnancy and she just stayed on bedrest.

Has your doctor talked to you about options? I had a short cervix, it wasn't open though so I didn't have to do anything. I did have a friend whose cervix didn't fully close from one pregnancy to the next and she was on bedrest for quite a few months. Depending on the situation, you could be put on bedrest or they may try a stitch to hold your cervix closed
