Anyone use ovulation sticks?

Hi

im using one step ovulation tests.
i have used them previously and when i got my lh surge i got a very strong positive and then the next day it faded.
this time i have had a strong positive for two days (im going to check again later), so im a bit confused. i thought once your surge was detected you would only have one day of a strong positive and then it fades as your surge doesnt last long. So does anyone know why i have had a positive result for more than two days this time.
The odd thing is, the positive results have been around 11pm, but my morning tests between my pm tests were not as strong. im baffled.

You need a lutheal phase of at least 12 days for an egg to do its buisness.so 13 days is fine.I used to always use ovulations tests.its not uncommon to have 2 days positive just means your testing right time, and you are catching your surge.I alway say bed before during and after a positive, just in case the egg takes little longer to drop.it sounds like your on track, fingers crossed for you.

Hi

Thanks for this

My first positive had a thin dark line and the remainder was fainter and my second positive the whole line was dark and matched in colour to the control line. Judging by what you have said i will assume my second test was the true positive and that was on Monday, we BD the sunday, monday and yesterday. I read somewhere that when you get your true positive you dont ovulate until a day later which means i would have (hopefully) ovulated yesterday. Do you think its wise to BD again tonight or do you think i dont have to as i must admit, im quite sore from all the BDing we have done already so i wouldnt mind the break. Im just so worried im going to miss it and ive been trying for so long that i dont want to take any chances. I also read that once you ovulate the progesterone builds up to make the lining of the uterus thicker to prepare for egg implantation and if you have 12 days or less of the build up then the lining wont be thick enough because it needs at least 13-14 days to make it most suitable to accept an egg. I think my Luteal phase is 13 days (providing i ovulated the day after my positive LH test) so im now worried that my uterus lining wont be adequate enough to accept the egg (providing it got fertilized)

Sorry im rambling :-/

I used the OPK and was told that the best time to take them was midday during lunch. I also was getting LH surges for two days long and the doctor said that it is normal and that one day was probably not as dark as the other day. It's a true positive when the test and control line look exactly the same. I agree they can be very confusing. We started BD every other day when I started to see the test line get darker each day. Then we continued to BD every other day for about a week after we got our positive. Good luck!

Thanks for the advice.

I have been testing twice a day, one around 9 am and the other around 11pm.
The reason i did another one after my first positive is because I wanted to make sure that I was having sex on all the right days, and then stop trying once the test was negative again.
But yes, it does get very confusing. I will stop testing now to save me becoming more confused :-) Im just praying this works as i have been trying for over a year now so fingers crossed i caught it this time :-) Do you know how long you should keep having sex for once the ovulation test has gone positive?

I've been using them as well and they CAN be confusing. My RE told me to test between 5-8pm everyday.  I've realized I am confusing myself because I would test with first morning urine and get a positive but then test when I was suppose to and get an almost positive. So yes, you can get a very strong positive and then an almost one in the same day.  Try testing twice a day, once around lunch and once around evening time. That's what i've been doing..No more First Morning Urine!!  AND once you get your positive just stop testing all together. :)  I had 3 days worth of positives and was confused as to wether count the first one or the last one. BUT I was told to stop testing once you get your first one because that's considered "positive for ovulation" and you'll ovulate 12-24 hrs later..maybe longer for some women. Some have a longer LH surge than others.  Either way just count the first positive!!  It's less stressful that way. Good luck to you!! SSBD!! :D
