Be careful when using those in early pregnancy...We rented one from StorkRadio.com and I was so psyched to be able to hear the heartbeat....The display screen is not accurate....I counted with my watch and it was ALWAYS off, so try that. Count for 15 seconds and multiply by 4. Also, I discovered that for the first month that I had the thing that I was actually picking up my own heartbeat. Everyone has an abdominal aorta that runs down thru the belly.....and it's LOUD on a doppler...i eventally brought mine to the Dr.';s with me and had them show me exactly what to do....It seems fool proof, but it's actually not! Just some helpful hints! :o)
I put a free ad on craigslist.com saying " seeking fetal doppler" an someone wrote me back. I paid 50 for it an its brand new. The one that I have is called babysound. I had to search for about 10 minouts before i foun the heart beat. But I'm "plus sized" so thats expected. My babys heart beat was between 124 an 130 beats per minout. I love it!
Where did you get your doppler? Was it easy to use? Or did you have to fish around for awhile to get the hb...I'm thinking of renting one.
my doctor says between 120 and 180 for any baby over 12 weeks. your baby may have been sleeping when they took the heartbeat. when they are resting, theirs hearts are lower. my little guys heartbeat went from 140bpm during an ultrasounds and then 1/2 later at my checkup appointment was 168bpm. so it can rise and fall depedning on their movements and when the doctor actually takes the heartbeat.
Anything above 100! If it goes below 100 then it'd be a problem.
