BIG baby!! Anyone else???

We had an ultrasound a few days ago (at 36 weeks) and the good news is that my baby is no longer breech (YAY!!!) and he's very healthy and strong. The somewhat concerning news is that he's already measuring at 7.5 pounds according to the ultrasound. I know u/s are not always accurate w/weight - a friend of mine recently had a baby whose u/s a week prior to birth was off by an entire pound!!! - but I can't help but wonder what all this means. I don't have GD, I've only gained a total of 28 pounds, and I eat really super healthy. The tech said he also has a large head. Yikes! lol... Has anyone else had a similar experiece?? How did your labor/delivery go? I know we're all different on so many levels but I guess I'm just needing some reassurance and to hear from some people who also carried and delivered large babies....... thank you! :)

All my children were large babies. And the docs always had their weight wrong by atleast 1 or 2 pounds. My oldest was estimated at 7 pounds 5 ounces and came out a week later at 9 pounds 12 ounces. My youngest was estimated at 6 pounds 3 ounces or so at the time I was in labor, and he came out at 9 pounds 6 ounces.

My step sister who just had her baby had a huge weight difference on her u/s. He was estimated at 7 pounds 12 ounces and he came out a whopping 10 pounds 1.2 ounces and that was just 3 days after her u/s.

I don't trust u/s when it comes to weight or sizes because they are off 9 times out of 10. I had a size u/s done a few weeks ago, and I didn't even want to know what they estimated him at because I know it was going to be way off lol.

My youngest was 8 lbs 8 ounces but no one guessed her weight before birth. They did say she was measuring bigger on ultrasound, but didn't tell me by how much. I gained less than 25 lbs the entire pregnancy and hardly ate anything but she was still huge!

They told me my son was estimated at 8lbs 6 oz.  he was 6lbs 13oz when he was born.

when they took my 28wk measurements with my daughter they told me they can be off by 10-15% either way.
good luck

I don't think you can really know--I'm sorry!  My doctor won't even estimate the size because he says it can be off by pounds on either side.

He never guessed that my first would end up being 9 lbs, 1 oz.  I'm fairly petite and after 24 hours of labor and being stuck at 7 cm for 8 hours, I ended up with a c-section.  My second baby was only 7,4 but we had pre-scheduled the c-section with her.  The tech is telling me this baby is only measuring in the 27th percentile!  So every baby is different and every delivery is too.  If your doctor isn't concerned, try to just give it all ya got.  I hope it works out for you!

Sorry I don't (yet) have a delivery story to share with you, but I am in a similar situation.  I'm currently a little over 39 weeks, but at my 36 week ultrasound, my baby girl measured roughly 7 lbs 4 ozs.  That was actually an improvement though... my prior ultrasounds at 28 and 32 weeks showed her being WAY off the scale (3 lbs 11 ozs, then 5 lbs 11 ozs)... so the doc was actually happy with 7 lbs 4 ozs.  The (estimated) average that the baby gains for those last 4 weeks are roughly 1/2 per week (so 2 lbs total).  So again ... sorry... no advice to offer, but hopefully for both of us our babies will slow it down for the last month!  Good luck.
