Baby Asprin

I was told after 2 miscarriages to take baby aspirin daily along with the continuation of the prenatal vitamins. When I was told to take them, I did not take them and I wanted to know if anyone else was told to take them after a miscarriage or many miscarriages and went on to have a successful pregnancy? I am not saying this would treat and help a miscarriage to not take place but I was told to take one daily and really wanted to know what would it help. I read where they say it would help thin the blood to help the blood to flow to the fetus as it is needed but I am still confused. I have not been diagnosed with any blood disorder or known to have blood clots, so can anyone enlighten me on why you think the doctor told me to take them...........Im starting to think, had I listen and just took them, then maybe I would not be on my 3rd miscarriage, maybe it would have helped me out, but after this one, I will be sure to take them until this time next year then I will try again. O....one last thing, the doc prescribed progesterone suppositories also so could anyone help me with these two (the baby aspirin and progesterone suppositories)?? Thanking you in advance!!

Thank you to all of you for your comments.  It really helps me a lot since I just went through my 3rd miscarriage.  The first two happened at 4-5 weeks & this one happened at almost 13 weeks.  It was very hard b/c I had already seen the baby & heard the heartbeat.  The baby apparently stopped growing at 9 weeks.  I'm devastated but will keep trying.  I promised my 4 year old son a brother/sister.  I will start immediately with the baby asprin & then meet w/my dr on 10/4.  I chose a D&C this time just to end things quickly plus I wanted to make sure I was completely cleaned out before trying again.  Good Luck to all still trying & Congrats to all that have had successful pregnancies!

Many women take baby aspirin even without being told by a doctor to do so. It's best your doctor does know and in your case they do so don't be too anxious about it. You don't have to have a problem in order to take it, they are for better blood flow to your uterus which you would need in order for good implantation I believe.
As for the progesterone...take those as advised the next time you get a bfp. Sorry for your losses. Good luck.

Hi... I am glad to see things are working out for you, but I was not diagnosed with a blood clotting disorder...after my second miscarriage, I was told to take the baby aspirin but I never took it.....this is my 3rd miscarriage because I just had another one......the doc also prescribed progesterone suppositories for me to take while i was pregnant the third time but I did not get them because I had already felt my preg symptoms going away and she had already told me that my hcg levels had dropped, just like it did the first two times....so im thinking what is the point of taking the suppositories.........I just wanted to know what was the reason for her telling me to take them if I was not diagnosed with the blood clotting disorder...does it really help or what....some say it do and some say it dont.

i also had 2 miscarriages in 2008 and after my second one my doc said to start baby aspirin (i was also already diagnosed with a blood clotting disease) but i did not TTC at all in 2009 and here i am in 2010 27 weeks preggers....i took baby aspirin daily up until BFP and then switched to heparin...after heparin i will again be taking baby aspirin

my doc wanted me on baby aspirin for at least 6 months before TTC after my 2nd miscarriage...miracles do happen....im  a believer :)

Hi , I am hoping this works out for me and my husband. I am going to try it and see......to update, I went to the doctor on Monday (6/28) and it was nothing there.. there was no fetal pole, no fetus and the sac has even gotten smaller than it was so she said I should just wait to start bleeding and I didnt have to have a dnc done..I am glad I was already prepared for the worse to happen because I wouldnt have known how to take it after seeing a heartbeat and fetal pole so now I got to go back and for another hcg level check for them to make sure my levels has gone down......I wish anyone who has gone through what I have much success ....as far as the blood clotting disorder, I was not diagnosed with one but I will take the aspirin to see if that helps...thanks again to all who commented!!! Prayers are with you!!!

They typically tell women who've had multiple miscarriages to try taking baby aspirin in the event they have an undiagnosed blood clotting disorder.

Again, I must say THANK YOU.....I am thankful for your encouragement and your post....that helped me out so much......As of now, I am just trusting in God for he knows all......thank you for the advice on the progesterone suppositories.....again I am in tears typing this but you understand, I can tell you do........I cant say thank you enough, I now feel good knowing that the aspirin and suppositories could really help me and being that I got positive feedback from someone who has gone through the same thing as I have is even more encouraging, again I say thank you.........I am now eager to try again, not saying what worked for you will work for me because everyones body is not the same, but it is worth the try.......THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for sharing your story.

as far as the side effects - the only thing that happened to me is i would sometimes get dizzy about 45 minutes after taking the pills when i first started taking them. it would just feel like i had like a glass of wine ha. suppositories are supposed to have little to no symptoms. your body should get used to them quickly.

i know how you feel i was in the exact same position. Even if you asked my when i was a little girl what my biggest fear would be i wouldve said "not being able to have kids"! It felt like my biggest fear was happening. anyway, i want to say that you will have your baby and you have such a great chance being that you did get as far as you did. Progesterone is like the glue for a pregnancy and can really even help everyone. i started it the day i got my first positive test because my doc wouldnt prescribe to me beforehand. I wouldnt take it as early as when you get your period because you body doesnt even produce the progesterone until you ovulate. i would start it after you think you ovulated, like 2 days after to be sure.  I would also take the baby aspirin to prevent the chance of clots in the placenta and have lots of nice bloodflow to your baby.

Thank you for sharing that with me. congrats on your 30 week pregnancy and from what I see, you are over the hump, as some would say.....again I say congrats. I will definitely be getting the baby aspirin to take after I have my dnc done. As far as the progesterone, the doc told me to take for a whole month and Im kind of scared to do so. Sorry for all the questions but what I want to know is, do you take the progesterone before or after your period....I know these are questions I should be asking my doc, but since you had the experience, I thought you could tell me more about it and its side affects. I pray to God that my husband of 11 months and I have a baby together some day so I will try the baby aspirin and the progesterone and see what the outcome will be....again I am very happy for you (tearing up as I type) and I dont even know you but that is just how my heart is...........again thank you for sharing, now I am encouraged to at least try again because I was just gonna wait until next year or maybe the year after but my husband wants to keep trying so I pray that this will help......again I say thank you for the words of encouragement, you dont know how much that helped me when I read it...

i had 2 miscarriages as well. i did a lot of research online after the second and told my doctor that i want to go on progesterone and baby aspirin for my next pregnancy. i have not either been diagnosed anything, but i wanted to try these before having all these tests done. i take 81mg a day baby asprin and took 400mg prometrium orally daily (suppositories are probably even more effective). i started the baby aspirin around the time i got my period and the progesterone with my first positive test (he wouldnt prescribe to me beforehand). i weaned myself off the progerone slowly at 14 weeks. i dont know what or if either of these helps, but im 30 weeks pregnant now :) i wish you lots of luck
