Baby Shower

I was just wondering how many of you had a baby shower for your second child, and what kinds of things did you do, and does it have to be all girls?? LoL theirs a lot of Boys/guys in my family so it'd be hard to do just an all girl shower...

A baby shower is typically done closer to your due date. You get to choose to do whatever you want! There is at least cake but you can have other food too!

Typically a friend throws a baby shower. If you do not have anyone who will throw one for you, totally throw a shower yourself (get a mother/motherinlaw in on it to help you).

There really are no rules for showers! Do as you please.

I found this really GREAT website for planning a baby shower. A lot of really fun games.

DSYBAHENA:
If it were me and I didn't think anyone was going to throw me one, I would definately hint around. I would never throw one for myself though. That just seems I dunno.......like throwing your own birthday party...

DEFINATELY FOOD!
I always had finger foods, punch and CUPCAKES!

How early did yo have your baby showers?

And did you have family and friends or a separate one for each?

My mom wants to throw me one and there will be about 30 ppl there at my best guess. but she's just thinking about it.

Typically only one shower for the first and maybe a luncheon with subsequent babies. I had co-ed showers (men and women came!).

So I had two showers with my first (one w/ friends, another my fam. threw). And I had a luncheon/tea party with just a few people with my second baby (there were gifts, but nothing like with the first baby!).

I think that it is appropriate to have a shower with a subsequent pregnancy if it is the opposite gender, but if it is the same gender, close in age, it's not necessary! Or if it has been YEARS since your last baby. A little party to celebrate is fine though!

In my family and where I've worked, we've always thrown showers for each baby.  I have been to a church baby shower with men included.  I suspect that the shower my mom throws for me will include the men (we live a couple hours away so it will be a good chance to visit!)

Normally there's just a shower for the 1st baby, but my friend got pregnant unexpectedly (1st was with 3 tries of IVF....this one with NOTHING) and she hadn't planned on being able to get preggo again.....her one child is 5 years old, so I had a very small family shower for her.....I say do whatever your friends and family want to do for you!

I've had a baby shower with all three of my kids and suspect my neice will throw me one for this lil Angel. We were never more prepared for one than we were the other two. This one is a girl and my oldest daughter is 12, so we have NOTHING for a girl. We have a few items from our 2 1/2 yr old son. Furniture etc....

Not sure it depends if your friends or family will throw you one.  I don't think I will get one since I am 12 weeks and my son is only 15 months old.  Everything I got from my showers with him is still so new.  If I would have a girl, I would love to get one if someone throws one for me!

everyone in my family has baby showers for all of their babies whether it be number 1 or number 3!! everytime you have a baby your going to need new stuff..you forget how much all of the basic baby stuff adds up to. so throw showers for all of the babies!! :) i know im going to have one with this one, my daughter and this baby will be 8 years apart, and all i have leftover is a stroller and some blankets..id be lost without my family throwing me a shower!

I had a second baby shower. Only because I have a boy and a girl.  And if I were to get pregnant again I would have a third because my kids are now 5 and 6 yrs old. I have nothing of theirs saved except for some clothes.  Just do it...have fun with it.

i had one for my second... but my family is a little nuts about stuff like that!!!  well, ok...  not "my" family...  but my inlaws are!  i've never had guys at mine but that would probably make it fun b/c you can play games that require partners and if some of them are young it would be funny to watch them try and change a diaper on a baby doll w/ one hand...  especially if they've never done anything like that before!
