Baby Teeth!

I know there have been a couple of posts the last few months about when to expect those first adorable little baby teeth.  With my older 4 kids they all had atleast 2 teeth before 6 months.  Lily is now over 8 months with NO teeth.  I know typically 8-12 months is what a lot of people refer to as the normal age range for cutting teeth.  I decided to ask my ped what age they get concerned with not having teeth yet.  He said that under the age of 15 months they don't worry at all.  Once a child hits 15 months they start to check and see if the root has not developed properly allowing the tooth to come in.  Sometimes the teeth can't break through the gum and they have to make a small cut in the gum to help it come through.  Very, very rarely is there a child who does not develop baby teeth.  He said that in his 33 years as a ped he's experienced less than a handleful of kids who did not develop them.

I just thought this would be some helpful knowledge for anyone who is worrying abuot when their baby will get teeth.

My son didn't get teeth 'til 11 months old.  He got his bottom two and then it was another few months before he got any more.  Now they're shooting out like crazy!  He's got his top 4 and bottom 4  and some molars or bicuspids - not sure which - but he's got at least 12 total now at 17 months old.  I stopped nursing at 10 months old so I am glad he waited on the teeth for my sake!  LOL :-)

My son shows no signs whatsoever of cutting anymore teeth anytime soon. I can't even tell by looking at his gums. He's toothless, lol.
He shows signs of teething by chewing on his hands and being really fussy and acting like his mouth hurts from time to time, but...no more teeth yet. He sees the doctor next week to determine if he needs ear tubes, so I'm going to ask about it then.

I was wondering about Lily two, like I said my other 4 all had atleast 2 teeth by 6 months and while I can feel and see the shape of the teeth under the gums, there are no indications of them trying to break through anytime soon!

My son is going to be 16 months old a week from today, and he got his first two bottom front teeth when he was 12 months old. They were not fully grown in until he was nearly 14 months old.
Currently, they are still the only two teeth he has.
My older son had at least six teeth or more by the time he was 12 months, and I'm pretty sure he had many more by the time he was 16 months.
I'm beginning to wonder about my little guy...lol.
