Baby born at 35 weeks

As some of you know I am in the hopital on bed rest and I am 34 weeks with 4 cm and 89%.  My baby girl is also breehed and that pose another danger to the situation if my water breaks elsewhere but the hospital.  Anyhoo, I am where I am andam trying to do my best to keep her in.  I am on Magnesium Sulphate until next Wed.  I will be 35 week then.  The game plan is to take me off the Mag next Wed and let me go in to labor if my body wishes, if not, a c-cestion will be scheduled.  Can someone tell me what I should expect for a baby that's born at 35 or so weeks?  Will she be considered premie?  My doc said we have to hold out that long so the baby will likely not need to be in the NICU but a few more days in the nursery.  Any imput is appreciated.

I had my first when I was 35 weeks. She weighed 7lbs 15ozs and was 21 inches long. She came out screaming- her lungs were perfect. She went home with me two days later and spend no time in NICU.
Im at 35 weeks now with my son and two weeks ago my ultrasound estimated he weighed 6lbs 7ozs. My Dr. has given me the okay to have him.

To be honest- it all depends on your baby. No one, not even the doctors can tell you a for certain answer. You'll only know once your angel baby has came into the world.

My opinion- your baby will be fine. Even if he/she has to be in the NICU, 35 weeks isn't as bad as alot act like it is.

I can tell you, my mom had me at 34weeks, and I didn't have any problem with my lungs at all...

What they'll look for in the NICU in order for you to take baby home is: 1)baby keeping they're temp up, sugar regular too., 2) eating well, 3) gaining a little weight.

Some NICU's have a certain weight they want babies to reach before they'll release them.

My littlest brother was born at 36w and went home w/my mom when she did. :)

My sister had her twins @ at like 31 weeks (It was 20 years ago, so I don't remember exactly, they were approx. 3 months early. she had toxemia BAD!).. They were 2 lb 8 oz and 3lb 13 oz. One was in the NICU for a month, the other for 2 months. They weren't even totally developed and both came home on heart monitors.. My opinion is 35 weeks is early, but totally should be fine.. The twins are now totally healthy college grads (Associates)! Yikes..

My other girlfriend just had her baby 3 weeks ago and he was 4 or 5 weeks early.. The baby was in the NICU for only 5 days and he is doing great! I hope those stories give you some hope that your little girl will do just fine.. Try and relax and PLEASE KEEP US POSTED!  I eill be thinking about you girl~

My cousin delivered her daughter at 35wks to the day.  Her baby girl weighed only 5lbs even and came home when my cousin came home.  Beides having the low birth weight everything was great with her APGAR.  She was on hospital bedrest for 1wk and was able to get two steriod shots for the baby's lungs.

Hell one of my bestfriend's delivered at 28wks and her daughter stayed in the NICU 1wk went to the step down nursery for 1wk and then came home.  That little girl is a fat little rollie pollie now...so at 35wks (especially if you have the betamethasone) everything will be great.

Forgot to mention my SIL was put on bedrest at 25 weeks and had been off bedrest for 5 days and then had Kaitlyn

My SIL just delivered her daughter at 35w6d.  She weighed 5.3lbs and was 18" long.  She was considered a premie, but didn't have to go to the NICU.  She did have to deal with jaundice.  She was born on 6/23.  Went home 6/27 because of jandice (mom went home 6/25).  Was readmitted 6/28 and came home for good 7/2.  Her due date is July 22, but she is doing fine since her janudice got straightened out.

Well the Magnesium definitely keeps you from going into labor. I was following a birth story while this woman was in labor. They had her on Pitocin and Magnesium and the Mag worked againt the Pit (she needed the Mag. because of high blood pressure and protein in the urine or something like that).

She will be considered preemie but a baby at 35 weeks has a great chance! She may not even need respiratory help (they're going to give you a steroid shot beforehand, right? It'll help her lungs).  If she stays in there until at least 37 weeks she'd be considered full term.

I have a niece who was born four weeks early (36 weeks) and she was perfectly fine. Tiny, but healthy! I don't believe she stayed in a NICU or needed to be on oxygen or anything like that.
