Baby's Heartbeat??

Good Morning everyone....

I have a question..I am scheduled to go have my first Ultrasound on the 18th of November. I will be 7 weeks then, I think. I am due July 4th and my dr said I was 5 weeks last week. So I think next week I will be 7. Anyway...will they be able to hear the baby's heartbeat next week  or at 7 weeks I mean? I had to miscarriages within the last 5 years and have one daughter who is 9. So I am not sure if I am high risk and that is why I am getting the ultrasound so early. Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Lisa

Thanks guys..I appreciate all your answers. I have been extremely stressed out and I am praying this baby is ok. So I hope I at least see his/her little heart beating...thanks again..

I went in to my ob office and was not sure how far along i was..... so they did a vab ultrasound and they were able to see the little bean and the blinking heart..... I dont know if you can hear it on a doppler that early but you can definitely see it on an ultrasound..... When I went in they said I was 6 weeks and 5 days and were able to see the little heart just beating away.... so they should be able to locate it

YES they can hear it! Couple years ago i had a miscarriage. I went to my doctor appt at 8 weeks and they COULDNT hear the heartbeat which is how they knew i was having a miscarriage.....i had not started bleeding and all that yet....which is why i didnt know i was "miscarrying"....sure enough tho, i started to within a week.

So, yes they can hear it!

I think it just depends... I have heard many women have heard/seen a heartbeat that early, and some have not.

I know you must be stressing, but I don't think there is a clear yes or no answer here. =(

Good luck and let us know how it goes!

I had my first u/s @ 8 weeks, and I could see the fllicker heartbeat on the screen.
