Belly button piercings and being pregnant.

I have been thinking about getting my belly botton pierced but I have heard that it looks really funny once you have had a baby.  I wont be having a baby for another 2 years at least but I don't really want my belly button be look weird because of a piercing, because if so I just wont do it.  Anyone have theirs pierced and it still looks okay?

i think it just depends on the person ? ive had mine peirced for 6 years , i kept mine in for 6 months out of my first pregnancy, it never closed and i just stuck it right back in after having my son it never strecthed or anything. this time i also kept it in for about 6 months , still no strecthing or anything and i can still put it back in

hi i changed to a plastic belly button piercing when preg and still had to take it out when i got too big because it was soooo sore. Now mine is stretched about 1cm long with two stretch marks reaching upwards. has anyone been to a doctor to find out if it can be fixed with surgery?....because when i pinch the two sides together it looks normal again. Cant they just take the stretched bit out and stitch in back together under local? Its so gross.

I took mine out when i started to show.... I didnt want it to get too stretched out..... I am sure it will be closed by the time the baby gets here but I guess i can always get it re- done..... I would definitely wait until after you have kids to get it done.... OR you can always have it for a couple years and then take it out, and have it re- pierced

I have a scar right above my belly button from a surgery already so I'm not sure it would look any worse than it already does. I have 5 scars on my stomach already are they going to look weird after being pregnant?

I wouldn't do it, mine got so stretched out, the skin is so stretched that I can actually move it around and it will stay in place, it's disgusting. I also, have two big stretch marks coming up out of the top of the hole, it used to say it looked like a bunny. With only having your piercing in for a couple of years it will definitely close up when you take it out for a couple months or so, so it will just be a waste anyways.

I took mine out about 5 months before I got p/g... It looks like I have a stretch mark now above where the piercing was at...the hole from it looks gross too...since the hole will stretch with your belly, just imagine what it will look like after you have the baby.... I wish I would have never got mine done.  Mine also turned a funky color during pregnancy...

Wow, I hope after reading this, that you don't decide to get one and if you do, take it out when you know that you're pregnant :) seems like you should be okay if you do that.

I took mine out the day I found out I was pregnant but it still has a little tiny scar. Nothing noticeable though. My sister and my friends all removed theirs once they got too big to wear them anymore and theirs are all stretched out and funny looking. If you do decide to get it done then just make sure you take it out when actively trying.

I had mine for 3 years and took it out when I started trying to get pregnant, it took us a year so mine healed before I got pregnant.  This is my second pregnancy and it looks just fine.  If I were you and wanted to get it done try to take it out at least 6 months or more before you get pregnant. Good luck!

I would advice against it. Mine looks disgusting and stretched out (granted mine is closed now, too, so I can't even hide it with a pretty jewel).

I have had all four sides of my belly button pierced (looked AMAZINGGGG might I add! :] ) 3 months pregnant now and completely regret it .. You can wear stretchable belly button rings throughout pregnancy but as you get bigger your piercing stretches out..and the inside, the healed over scar tissue turns BLACK and looks sooo dirty.. I don't know if it will ever go back to normal :( I'd really think hard about it.. it looks good for now, but later on, not so good. You also have to think, if you take your piercing out during your pregnancy the scar left from the piercing stretches..and it looks exactly like a stretch mark! Not so attractive if it's your only one.. Good luck!
