Benadryl cream... can I use it while pregnant?

I was out camping this weekend and now have a rash or white bumps on my face and hand - the more i scratch the more it spreads.  It seems to heat up whenever I get some warm water on it....  Can I use the benadryl cream to stop the itching or should I go and see my doctor?  I am almost 35 weeks....

Joy- that's really weird, I went to walgreens yesterday cause my allergies have been unbearable and they told me I can take claritin...is that wrong? I am 37 weeks. When I was pregnant with my first my OB even gave me a prescription for claritin......

When in doubt you should always ask!

I called the pharmacist on Sunday because I was having really bad allergy symptoms and wanted to take an allergy medication. She told me ALL allergy medications are Class B (meaning they've never been tested and no one knows if they can affect baby) and they're all restricted in the third trimester.

Yeah I try to sleep with a body pillow... it seems to help most nights.  I agree that we are stuck with this pelvis pain - horrible!  I haven't had any swelling in my legs or ankles yet - so I am lucky in that regards.

I hope I deliver earlier than my due date... aahhh....

You hang in there as well!!!

i'm doing ok I guess...I'm starting to get low abdominal cramps kinda like heavy period pains usually in the morning and at night and I guess its the baby digging his head in deeper into my pelvis...hopefully I will start progressing soon, I don't think I want to wait until I'm 40 weeks to deliver mainly because I don't want to be stuck in this misserable job for much longer!  I'm soooo tired too.
My pelvis still hurts a lot but stretching and walking helps make it better. The problem is at night when sleeping, try a pillow in between your legs.  I think we are keeping this pain until we deliver or untl our bodies go back to normal.  Oh well!
The swelling on my feet and legs went down with a massage, so I will get some massage oil and have my husband do that every night!
Hang in there!

I have had poison ivy off and on with this pregnancy and it was driving me nuts! Instead of taking the drowsy pills, I used the cream and it helped a lot!

Great thanks ladies!  It seems to be drying itself out - so hopefully it just goes away.

Mumita:  I am doing alright - baby is definitely getting bigger as it has started the "roll" a few weeks ago and the odd time I get this massive shot to the stomach... which is not so fun.  I am starting to tire fairly easily and am on the verge of being done.  My pubic bone is still so sore that it hurts to stand on one foot, or to roll over in bed, or even to raise my leg when in a sitting position.  Since there is nothing they can really do about it... I have no choice but to wait it out and take it easy.

How are you doing???  Can you believe we only have about 5 weeks left till our due date!!!

You can use the cream or the pills, but not both at the same time.

I would say yes since we can take benedryl orally but call your OB or pharmacist to be sure!

Hi!!
Do you think it may be something like poison ivy?  I think you should call your doctor before doing anything, just so he can rule out anything dangerous.  I don't think that a topical Benadryl cream will do anything bad,  but that is usually used for an allergic reaction on your skin not for other stuff.
Other stuff like rashes are usually treated with a cortisone cream not with an antihistamine cream like Benadryl.

Call your doctor to make sure.

BTW how are you feeling at 34.4 days?
