I also was told by both of my doctors that Benadryl was safe.
I got a list from my midwife on things safe to take and she said that it was one of them. You just only want to take anything when it's really needed.
Benadryl is safe. Also if you have problems sleeping you can take Unisom sleep gels. They're just benadryl with a bit of a different formulation.
my dr told me regular benadryl was a ok during pregnancy, i also asked my freind who is a pharmacist and she said the same. the pharmacist said benadryl is one of the oldest allergy meds out there and b.c of that a long time ago it was actually tested on pregnant women with no concerns. now a days they arent allowed to test on pregnant women ( thank God) so that is why bendryl and tylenol are ok....i took benadryl my whole pregnancy and my dd is 100% healthy. i did only take 1, usually i would take 2 but i tried to cut it down.
I was ok'd by my Dr to take Benadryl in my first trimester only when needed. I am now on Zyrtex which is a category B so it's safe for use during pregnancy. I would call your Dr first before taking anything. Maybe they can give you a prescription for something you can use in first trimester. Your almost in the second trimester too.
