I've tried the depo shot twice. Had me bleeding like crazy both times.

After my son, I got the Implanon. Oh my god. Didnt work for me either unless I could remember to take an additional BC pill as well to level the hormones. It didnt hurt to bad being put in, but I think I have a rather high pain tolerance so I can't speak for everyone. And I wouldnt know how it feels coming out. Nobody would take it out so I took a steak knife to my arm and when that didnt work out as planned I went to a piercing studio where my friend works and she took a dermal punch to my arm and pulled it out for me...

I was thinking IUD but I'm definitely nervous about it. I'm also nervous about forgetting to take a pill everyday. I gained 25 pounds on the depo shot, so that's a definite NO for me! lol

I'm on the depo and i love it but my doctor told me to only  be on it for a year cause after that it can cause fertility problems. But that was my doctor.
So idk ask your doctor about other birth control ideas

I took the depo shot and gained 80 pounds in 9 months it makes you gain a lot of weight. And it can also decrease your bone maro its not the best form of borth control yes you dont get your period but the side effects suck. You can always get the ring that you insert for 21 days and remove it when your suppose to get your period or the patch that you switch once a week. Or the pill but if you miss a day you can be screwed lol. Good luck

Every birth control will not suit everyone properly, you have to find which one is best for you. Some will have positive experience and others will have had some negative experience. You will have to do your research, consult with your physician and ask to start you off with a birth control with a low dose of hormones so it won't cause you to have major side effects. You may have to try different birth control to find which one is for you.

I have had the implanon (bar in arm) twice and I loved it and will return to using it after bub it lasts 3 years and there is no remembering to take it :) but everyone is different and it may not work for everyone like it did for me but the good thing is you can have it taken out straight away

My cousin got the arm implant after she had her son in June and has had a nonstop period ever since. I also have a friend that got pregnant while on the depo shot. Just some things to think about good luck. I think i'm going to choose the meraina.

And to the women saying why don't you ask your doctor, the doctor wouldn't tell you the truth about them. They say all birth controls are great. She's asking for people who have delt woth them. There's nothing wrong with asking people for advice or experiences. Not everybody runs to their doctor. You come off a plain rude. So why don't you just not comment instead of making an *** l yourself .

The depo is awful. I had it and thought I was going to die. I bled for months straight. Gained weight no matter what. I had awful nausea. Bled crazy heavy  and with so much stomach pain. I wouldn't advice it. I've heard Greta thubgs about the arm implant

I did the depo shot for about a year and it made me a crazy person! I don't have any experience with the arm implant but I did use the NuvaRing for quite sometime and didn't mind it at all.

I've been wondering the same thing myself.. curious to know if the arm implant hurt while getting it put in or taken out?

I use to be on the shot for 2-3 years and I really don't want to do it again because it can decrease bone density or something like that and also after I got off of it my periods never returned to normal so every month I could either be 2 weeks early or 2 weeks late, so frustrating! And that also makes it to where it could take a while before your fertility returns!

I had the arm implant and I loved it. It last for 3 years. It was very nice because you don't have to remember to take a pill daily. Honestly you really forget that you have it.

If you aren't interested in an IUD but want something incredibly effective and similarly low-maintenance, the Implanon arm implant (and another one I can't think of the name right now) has incredibly good success rates and is an excellent long term solution for contraception.
I've had success with Depo  in the past but I believe it has more of an effect on breastmilk production so I wouldn't go for that (same with most birth control pills, besides the mini pill which has a super high failure rate).
I had a Mirena IUD after my first was born and had no issues with discomfort, no bleeding, no decrease in milk production and no trouble with removal once we were ready to start trying again - but I realize it's not for everyone.
Barrier methods are always an option as well, though failure rates are much higher than a long term option like Implanon.
After this baby we're ready for a permanent solution that won't affect my hormone levels, so my husband is going through sterilization.
Good luck finding something that works for you in your particular situation.  Talk with your healthcare provider about your options.
