I know. I've seen that as well. I despise showing any part of my body anyways so I've worked hard to learn how to breastfeed discretely. But then you see girls and women with god knows what hanging out and to me it all seems to be the same.
SunWorshiper: I did alot of modeling where my body was exposed...never naked, but close to it...i have no problem with it, but i think what you wrote is absolutely beautiful! I love the part where you said "my body is for me and my husband to enjoy the beauty of only nobody else" i wish more people were like that!
Yeah 3 is too old lol!! Clysta i have some friends who dont cover and people never know theyre breastfeeding...but there are some ladies who dont cover and the top of their boob is showing! LOL!
I don't cover only because it's far too much of a hassle, my daughter HATES to be covered (can't say I really blame her) and also because I don't expose anything at any time nor make it look like I'm feeding her. It looks like she is sleeping. The looks on peoples faces when they ask if she's asleep and I say she's eating is priceless....but this is just me. Others have their own preference and opinions.
I worked with a lady from Guatemala who breastfed her dd until she was 3. Even her dh thought that it was too long.
I agree a year and a half would be my limit. I know they say 2-3 years old is fine but I'm not comfortable with it. Once your child is old enough to walk over and undress you to get a snack it's too old IMO.
I don't think that women should BF without covering up. Only bc it can make other people uncomfortable and you don't want to have to have the birds and bees talk with your little boy at a young age bc they saw boobs and started asking questions. I also am modest though. You won't find me out of the house in a skirt that is above the knee usually I don't even wear shirts that go above my elbow and I also follow the rules as a married orthodox Jew and I even cover my hair. So there is no chance that you would find me whipping my boob out uncovered in public. Covered fine but uncovered NO my body is for me and my husband to enjoy the beauty of only nobody else.
LMAO reminds me of the movie grown ups with Adam Sandler...when the kid walks up to the mom and starts drinking from her breast LOL or when they are at the water park the dad makes him drink big people milk! I understand its good for the kid but come on...get your kid a juice box!
I think for the me the longest I want to go is a year and a half. For me it just seems to old past that point.
lol my husband said when he was younger, there was a family (a pretty big family) that would come over to their house every so often and the mom would still nurse her son, but he was like 4 or 5! He would come over, pull up her shirt, and get a drink. He said, everyone was speechless and was appalled! This kid could talk, eat anything, and was coming over to his mom and getting a drink, in the open, nothing covering her up!! THAT IS NOT RIGHT TO ME!
lol. AGREED. that is nasty. I thought it was so gross to see my friend BF her two and a half yr old.
I breast fed my daughter until she was about 8 months old. Yes i breast fed in public, but i did cover up with a blanket. I didnt care if people knew if i was breastfeeding or not. Usually people dont care and no i would not go to a bathroom to breast feed my BABY...HOWEVER if the kid is 4 i say...TAKE YO A** TO THE BATHROOM AND DO THAT SHIZZ BECAUSE NO ONE WANTS TO SEE A GROWN CHILD SUCKING ON HIS MOMS BOOB! Thats just gross!
Breastfeeding in public shouldnt be an issue, ITS THE ABSOLUTE BEST YOU CAN DO FOR YOUR BABY. AND in NO WAY should any women feel they need to go "feed" their baby in the bathroom stall. There is nothing "sexual" about BF. I think its discusting when i see some teen/woman with her bbs hanging out. ITS DIFFERENT when your BF.
With that said, I am not bold enough to wip out my bb in public. I always covered myself with a blanket. They ARE my bbs afterall. But i WILL NOT go to the BATHROOM to FEED my child. THATS PLAIN GROSS.
ANd ALSO FOUR is WAY to old for the bb. how embaressing for the child... :/ some hicks prolly.
Okay, at 4 years old, I would think the child is old enough to be able to wait until they got home or go into the bathroom if he needed a quick drink. I have no issues with women breastfeeding in public, I think they just need to be discreet, obviously. You don't want to flash anyone accidentally, especially somewhere, where people are eating! The lady throwing a blanket at the other lady is not her place, I'm sure there were better ways to handle that situation. I have heard of people nursing for that long, but to me, it's a little strange, only because I would never do it. I always joke with my 2 year old about nursing and asked if he wanted milky, and he looks at me and makes this face, and says ew, no way. lol He weaned himself at 11 months because I was pregnant and I lost my other son just before he turned 11 months, so I have never gotten the opportunity to even get to the 1 year mark.
In the end of it all, I think they could have waited, but also no one has the right to tell her she can't do that either. It's kind of a tough place! Are they going to have laws on how old your child can be to nurse in public or at all? I think it should just be common sense though, or so you would think.
Oh WOW! Ok that lady is a b!tch for throwing that blanket at the woman breast feeding, what is it her business. I mean i know its a restaurant but she couldve talked to management about the situation and had them handle it. I do think the woman breast feeding is also disgusting...if you are still breast feeding your 4 year old child why on earth would you do it in public! Thats embarrassing if you ask me and she couldve atleast waited until they got home to feed him OR yes went to the bathroom cause im sure her child is eating food too and not just breast milk. The mother couldve waiting instead of doing it in public.
I know some women let the child self wean, and have no issues with women who feed in public without covering (I've done it myself, though no one knows that's what I am doing) but 4 seems just a little old to me. Maybe in other countries where food is of poor quality or water is dirty, but in the states or something it would seem a little strange.
