Thanks for all the comments. I was told by the midwife that I could hold the baby but not physically pick him up for a few days. Someone has to hand them to you.
Ive been trying all the old wives tales. Already tried having him turned by my OB it didnt work. Suppose its just crossing my fingers and hoping it turns.
Thanks for all the ideas!!!
My baby was breech until 36 weeks when she turned. You could try naturally to turn the baby. I've read that either leaning over a chair or getting on all fours (on the floor or the bed) and then putting your head down on some pillows so that your pelvis is higher than your head can help. It basically allows the bum space to float out of the pelvis so the baby had room to turn. It might allow your placenta to move out of the way too.
Good luck!
I didn't read everything, but who told you that you can't pick up your baby the first few days? I had a c-section with my son because he was the same way, frank breech. I was out of it a little afterwards, but I was able to hold him later that night. I was never told I couldn't pick him up, anything like that. I was able to get up, move around, and walk only a few hours after surgery. No matter which way you deliver you're going to want help after. The good news is that since the only reason you'd be having a c-section is because the baby is breech, you CAN have a vaginal birth with any baby after. Most drs want you to wait at least a year to get pregnant again. I had my daughter via VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean).
yes turining the baby manually is a dangerous proceedure, as I said my baby was my 7th I had room, the doctor at the hospital said there is a higher chance of it working once you have had a baby, so its not as successful with a first time pregnancy, when I had it done it was very uncomfortable as bub had wedged his bum right down into my pelvis and the doctor had to "dig"down and up to get him out, I had to have an injection to relax my uterus, the y had to do a scan to see exactly where he was lying, where the cord/placenta was, how long the cord was (some babies have very short cords so cant be turned) and they didnt attempt it until I was 37 wks and they had one of the theatres on standby (ie a whole team were waiting) just incase it went wrong and I had to have an emergency c/s, once turned the end of the bed was lowered so my feet were alot lower than my head (gravity) then I had to stay and bub to be monitered for 3 hrs, I was then allowed home and warned that he still may turn, I was very sore and felt bruised from the inside, but he stayed, so unless you have all those things in place I wouldnt try an ECV, if bub is already quite far down, still give acupuncture ago as that will only work if bub wants to turn, it will give him/her a helping hand so to speak, not sure about the chiro thing, but yu will have to weigh up the risks, many babies have be turned successfully, but I would say quite a few havent, good luck
My baby was head down at 36 weeks and then decided to turn breech (just my luck) at 37 weeks. I ended up having her turned because I didn't want to risk having a c/s and also just wanted to experiance a natural birth. I know that you said turning wouldn't work for you and that leads me to think that if baby is that far down they can't turn him then he probably isn't going to turn on his own. There is a possibility that he can but the odds are unlikely.
turning your baby is VERY dangerous! go with a c section if you have to. ive had 2 c sections already and going to have another one soon. its not as bad as people make it out to be...
Get a referral to a chiropracter who specializes in the Webster technique and ask about getting an external cephalic version (ECV) with your OB.
I understand your dilemma! I've had two healthy head-down vaginal births only to discover that baby #3 apparently really likes being breech. I'm only 25 1/2wks but both of mine were already head-down at this point...so I'm exploring all my potential options if he decides not to flip....and c-section is of course on the board as a possibility.
I really would look into the Webster technique with a chiro and talk to your doctor about having the baby manually flipped - I was a breech baby turned successfully by an ECV and my mom had a healthy and short vaginal delivery with me :-).
I had a c section due to my son being breech 2 different ways and if it helps any, my recovery was amazing! I was holding him that night! I was 38w when we discovered he was breech so I had him the next day.
I would try the acupuncture too and like fbifancer said, the baby can turn any time.
Also, check out spinning babies . com
They have some techniques for getting baby into position.
Good Luck!
I personally wouldn't worry this early, babies can still turn at 40 weeks. You still have time. Goodluck
hi hunny well 2 weeks ago i turned 36week i was at the midwife when she dicovered that i had a feet first baby :( i was mortified this is my 5th baby and iv never had any probs with previous pregs iv never gone above 7hr labours either so i was kinda hoping this last one would be an easy one too anyway 2weeks of been anxtious and hardly any sleep i decided to go for a c/s as the thought of the doc turning her felt wrong :( so on tuesday i went to my ob to sign my forms for c/s and to get a date they decided to scan me to see exactlky how she was laying and tadaaaaaa she was head down i never felt soooo relieved in my whole life.ive never had an op so just that in its self scared the life outta me ,so what im saying is theres still hope so dont give up yet its still relativly early days for you and if mine can turn at 37 weeks then im sure theres hope fdr youxxxx good luck
I would def give acupuncture a go it has quite good success rates for turning bub, also head down-bum up positions a couple of times a day , I had a breech baby but we managed to turn him as he was my 7th so its alot easier to do that, good luck
