Brown discharge, pcos

Im 28.  I had been having regular periods since coming off the pill over a year ag. then we decided to have a baby and now my periods are being irregular.  for four months i had and then didnt have one.  now i havent had it for 2 1/2 months.  When i went to the doctor last month she did an untrasound and said i have polycystic ovaries but i do not have any of the symptoms of pcos.  i also had a negative hpt and blood test.  i disagree with not having any symptoms of pcos because after reserching it, i have many of them and found out it does run in my family.  So now i am having brown discharge that looks like it has pieces of something in it.  i took a hpt and it came out negative.   anyone have any ideas?  If anyone is in PA i also need a new doctor.

DEFINITELY find a doctor that respects and acknowledges your concerns!! Unfortunately I'm not in your area so I have no one to refer. Whenever you do find a doctor though, be sure to let them know about the family history of PCOS and talk to them about a pelvic ultrasound -- that's how I was diagnosed. They did the ultrasound,  saw all the cyst, and that paired with all the other symptoms was it!!

First, I was prescribed Metformin -which you can research or ask questions about. Every doctor prescribes a different dosage. Then we moved on to fertility drugs, Clomid first. It over-stimulated my ovaries, so then I did Letrazole. I responded well to that and then we did IUI. I was blessed to have the procedure be a success on the first try.

Also, although you haven't been trying to conceive a year yet, you might want to be consult a fertility doctor since you have PCOS. That's just something to consider. It is POSSIBLE to conceive naturally with PCOS but it's MUCH more difficult!!!! After a while of trying to get pregnant, and irregular cycles, I researched PCOS and knew that I fit the bill for it. I was formally diagnosed with it and not surprised of course but I was referred to a fertility doctor. We started different methods - I'll share if you'd like - and within months, I was fortunate enough to conceive. I'll be 18 weeks tomorrow.

An idea as to the brown discharge -- if it has a reddish/burgundy tint to it all, it could very well be the shedding of the lining of your walls since you haven't had a cycle for the past 2.5 months. I have PCOS and had VERY irregular cycles. When I skipped my cycle for months, a brownish-red discharge would sometimes follow with me as well.
