I was told at 14 weeks that they were 80% positive we were having a boy. Had a repeat ultrasound at 18 weeks and he was a she! My ultrasound place is the top in Arizona and sooo clear... turns out what they thought was the wee wee was reallt her umbilical cord. Its possible they can tell you what you are having but I wouldn't buy anything gender specific until you get it confirmed at 18+ weeks.
I know mine lil boy at 18 weeks.. :)
I hear if they say boy early it's right but they told me k was having a girl at 16 weeks and at 18 weeks he was a boy :)
Thank goodness
Its easier to determine if its a boy. My doc was able to see my cousins 2 youngest boys weenus' at 14-15w. He told me the earliest he can tell a boy is at 12w! We found out my daughter at 16w. I'm pregnant again and I have an appt next week I will b 15w so who knows if we will find out!!! Good luck :)!!
And considering they have a 50-50 chance of getting it right lol, I wouldn't use a 12-week ultrasound to go out buying everything pink or blue.
I should find out at 17 weeks 4 days, if we're successful I'll let you know. But the average time I've been told is 18-20 weeks at least.
Some Drs wont say what the gender is that early just because its easier to be incorrect... it is about 80% correct this early with modern equiptment and a good ultrasound tech... i really could tell a difference between my ultrasound with my first baby and my current one... i went to 2 different places and my first US was so clear and perfect and this last one was a blur of a baby... so there is definitely a big difference when it comes to the US machine... but like i said even if they think they know already they still might not tell you... doesnt hurt to ask tho! congrats and good luck!
@kulsoom- Of course they can say "girl" or "boy" at 14 weeks.. but because the baby's parts are still forming.. it's only like 50% accurate.
Most doctors wait until 20 weeks to determine gender. By then their parts are about fully formed and they feel confident enough to say forsure.
yes, baby's sex can be determined by ultrasound after 12 weeks. Just look for a good place for ultrasound.
to be accurate most drs wait until between wk 18 and wk 20. I had mine at 18wks. but have to go back again because she wasn't able to do all the measurements that are required at the anaotmy scan.
It is very hard to determine gender at 14 weeks because the genital areas are still in formation, gender can be mistaken. Also the baby is really small so it's harder to see what gender the baby is. Most doctors will wait for the 20th week for better accuracy
