hi!!!! i just want to be honest with you, i was in the same boat as you are in now.. i am 30 years old... i had my tubes tied for 8 years on june16. worst mistake i could have ever made.. i wish i had did more research on the subject beforehand but i didn't. all i am saying is do what is best for you. the I.U.D works great they have a 5 year and 10 year one that you can use. i know right now you may not want anymore kids due to your age.. I was the same way.. boy and girl and i'm done.... yeahhhh now i would like to have another and can't. i refuse to pay to get my tubes untied that's like making a bill to create a bill.. sorry to look at it that way but, it is the truth. i do hope you really think this over because you can get your tubes tied... you have two kids and over the age of 21 in my state its legal to make changes to your body, and doctors will do it for you for free.....FYI

My brothers ex girlfreind and the mother of his 2 kids got her tied right after her secound child. She was almost 21 and I thought she was nuts! I thought her doctor was nuts too! She ended up making the right decision concidering she has lost custody of both children:( I cant imagin her having any more kids:( If she could find a dorctor to do it for her Im sure you shouldnt have a problem. Personally I would try Mirena...you never know what the future holds....you could change your mind in the next 10 or so years... even though you are set on it now.... Best of luck!

I agree, it should be our choice. But in my case I am very happy the doc wouldnt do it. Now I get to have this one, then I am done. I am getting them done this time while on the operating table. I even asked my fiance if he was sure he didnt want anymore after this. His point he brought up was with three I think we are going to have a hard enough time giving them all enough attention and things they want and need. He made a good point. So I am definitely getting them tied. I think three is plenty for me.

I would agree on waiting and use the B/C until your a lil bit older but i guess if youre ready then go for it. My cousin got hers tied at 20 when she had her 2nd baby but we lived in NM then and there they let you when you want to but i live in TX right now and they will not let you until you're 21. My sil just had her 2nd baby at 19 and she got the mirena in.

I agree with some of the post where woman have said you might regret doing it, after all you seem like you are at the end of the rope with pregnancy and feel like this is enough, but after you give birth you may feel like you miss being pregnant.  This is just my opinion but I personally would wait you are young and many things could change.  Good luck with your decision, I will support it either way.

here where I live you have to be 25 or have 3 kids.  Otherwise you have to go through with therapist.

My mom got hers tied right after I was born...that was 19 years ago and she's 41...so right about your age. I don't see why they wouldn't. I can understand why they would be hesitant...everyonce in a while my mom kinda regrets getting it done...Whenever shes around a baby she gets in that " i want one" mood. I know she's glad she did because if she didn't she would probably have 5 kids ahha...she too got what she wanted. A boy (22 now) and a girl( me 19)! I would just ask haha.

different doctor's say different things.  some say 2 or more kids and have no age preference, others have an age preference also.  It does not hurt to ask your doctor.  There is also the Merana IUD, which lasts for 5 years and many women love it, therefore if in 5 years you change your mind and want to have kids you have it removed or if you still want your tubes tied you can do so right then.

I was told I had to be 25 or have 3 children, but that was the doctors preference, because too many young women get them tied and change their mind later. I wanted to get mine done at 21 after my second child, but now I am glad I waited. I am 29 and having number three, planned pregnancy. I swore I was done having kids until I met my fiance'. We decided we wanted one together even though we have my 7 and 10 year old girls. I am so glad the doc wouldnt tie my tubes that young. It would have been a big mistake.

I know the chances of me regretting it is not likely because i feel you only need 2 kids a boy and a girl now that i have that im done with the whole baby making thing

Hi i aggree i doubt they would do it for you yet,you are very young, you may not want anymore children now,but that can always change later in life,if this happens you have the hardship of getting them untied, which the possibility of it not working.i would look into other contraceptive methods, ive read many stories of women wanting this done, then 10 years down the line regretted it.

Hi,

They probley wont tie your tubes at your age.  My doctor wont do it until you are 29 or have 3 or more children.  You can also look into the paraguard copper iud, they are good for 10 years and there are no hormones like in the mirena.
Good Luck

I have always heard that they are very cautious about tying young ladies tubes, unless they have had many children or pregnancy is a health risk. It's been a while since I've talked to anyone about it (years), so that may have changed. My opinion is they should honor your request. There's no law preventing it, so if you pressure your Dr enough they probably will or you can find someone else to do it. Just FYI: I've heard that it's ot a good idea to have it done right after surgery because everything is swolen. Infact, my Dr suggests we schedule it when I come in for my post-partum appt. Every Dr is different...Good luck with that....
