Changed formula - on accident

Hey all

My son is almost 11 weeks old. He's been on Similac Isomil Soy formula almost since birth. He used to cry when he was eating on regular formula, so I switched him (my 1st son was also like this). He doesn't spit up nor cry now when eating.

Well, my issue is this. I accidentally purchased the wrong formula. I got the Similac Sensitive for Lactose intollerant babies. It's one with the orange can lid, like the Isomil. It's made with milk vs the soy. I had to feed him this as they wouldn't exchange it. Anyways.. we're on day #2 now of him being on this formula. All seems to be OK so far. He's not crying or spitting up like he was with regular formula. His poops are similar to that of BF babies. On the Soy, his poops were like creamy peanut butter consistancy.

I'm wondering if I should just keep him on this formula if he continues to do fine on it? After this can, I'd be forced to switch him back (i'm on WIC, and have this week to decide to change him before the next month's benefits start for the soy formula).

What do you all think?

Lisa

I would probably switch him back.  I'm in the same situation only it was intentional.  I'm on WIC too and was using the Similic Early Shield BUT, WIC here is switching to the Good Start formulas next month.  When I heard about the recalls, even though my cans werent affected, I chose to give Lily the can of Enfamil AR I had left from my last baby (exp still good).  So I will be switching her again next month, unless I can get a script from my doc to keep her on the Enfamil AR which she seems to be doing better on,.

I already checked when I heard about it as I got the formula earlier this month. It's not part of the recall thankfully.

Make sure you check it to be sure it wasn't part of the Similac recall. They started the recall last Thursday and I believe it included ALL Similac powders due to the possibility of being tainted with beetle parts and/or larvae. Check their website. If it's part of the recall the store has to take it back.
