My obgyn said its okay to take colace the regular one not the one that has a laxative in it. I was about to purchase it but then things got beter on their own.
I am constipated as well. I am 19 weeks tmrw. I started being constipated well before I got preg dr said eat more fiber I did I tried everything.. something that wrked for me and is safe while preg is fiber pills. My OB said its fine if I continue taking them its seriously the only way I can use the bathroom. I went to walmart and the brand "equate" is like 4 dollars and it says fiber I'm telling you it works wonders I have tried everything and that wrks best :)
Thanks. This is my third baby but I've never been constipated in pregnancy so I didn't know what to do lol
Stacey is right.. kiwi & pear helps me a lots...:) I am 18weeks tomorrow...
also pear juice is very good, you can also try kiwifruit and cut down on any highly processed foods if your having them, the bowel gets abit sluggish due to the pregnancy hormones so a high fibre diet is always good when pregnant
I eat fiber one bars and drink about 9 bottles of water a day I've tried milk of magnesia and I can't do metamucil the smell makes me vomit. Ill try prune juice. Thanks for the help ladies!
Make sure you're getting enough fiber and water. I had the same problem and that's what my doctor told me would help. I agree with Clysta, milk of magnesia really helps my doctor recommends it. Good luck!
My doc suggested prune, or apple juice. I drank the prune (yuk I know), about an eight ounce glass, and believe me... It worked lol
I'm lactose intolerant as well, and I would not suggest drinking it if you are. While it can give you diarrhea, it can also cause severe bloating as well as nausea/vomiting. There are various things that you can use while pregnant that are safe, as well as natural remedies. It's very important that you have a proper diet. Make sure you're getting enough fiber in your diet, which will help keep you more regular. Avoid binding foods, such as bananas, rice, etc. Check with your doctor first, but there are also some OTC medicines that you can use as well. Milk of Magnesia as well as Metamucil are both generally safe laxatives that can help you go easier.
