Constipation

Hi.  I am 7 weeks 1 day and for the past few weeks have had cramping.  I now know it is bowel cramping/ pain but at first I could not tell the difference and it felt like menstral cramps or the way you feel during your period.  This cramping has continued with MAJOR constipation.  I mean I can not go for like 3 days at a time without a BM and that makes the pain worse.  I have tried tea and fruit but nothing seems to help.  Has anyone had something like this?  What can I do for it to be more regular?

You could try drinking 1-3 drops of liquid iodine.  This would speed up your metabolism by enabling your thyroid to work better.  Also oranges or dries red peppers works for my husband.

I would check with your doctor.  I always have this problem also.  The added iron in your prenatal vitamins can causes this.  Also, it happens in late pregnancy.  So, my doctor prescribed some vitamins for me that have a gentle stool softener in them.  Worked like a charm!!!

Oh yes. I was having the same problem. I couldn't go for a few days at a time. But I started taking a prenatal vitamin with stool softener in it, and everything's working fine now. Ask your doctor to put you on some.

You can take Fiber Con!  My Dr. suggested this for me and it has worked great!!  I was like you...cramping and rarely having a BM.  It really is miserable feeling that way.  Hope you feel better soon!

I totally know how you feel. I would get constipated while I wasn't even preggo and now that I am pregnant, it sucks! My ob/gyn prescribed me a prenatal with a stool softner, but it doesn't seem to make a difference. She advised me to take 1 colace with my prenatal everyday until I am better and thank goodness it has helped!

P.S. I drink a ton of water, eat whole grains and eat stuff with tons of fiber, my diet is perfect but I guess the hormones make you constipated, it sucks. Hope u feel better soon.
