wow, im glad that you guys looked it up now i know..learn somethin' new everyday!! but now that i actually think of it a friend of a friend got preggo and had twins and they said the other one was actually about a week and a half younger then the older one, so i guess it can happen!! thanks for clearing that up girls!!
I believe i have ovulated more than once this month so it is possible!
Well I found this on the American Pregnancy Association, so I am assuming it is correct. Googling about multiple ovulations gave me so many searches that contradicted themselves.....but, I think this is correct....
Can a woman ovulate more than once during each cycle?
A woman cannot ovulate more than once during each cycle, therefore she cannot get pregnant more than once during a cycle. Multiple ovulation can occur and is when two or more eggs are released in a single cycle. Both eggs are released during one 24 hour period and are responsible for the birth of fraternal twins. It is believed that this may occur in as many as 5-10% of all cycles but does not result in that many twins due to a type of miscarriage referred to as the “vanishing twin phenomenon.”
So, if anything I guess it sounds like I may have released 2 eggs. We did decide to wait until next month just to be on the safe side though. We really want a baby, but just didn't want to get pregnant with twins. They run in my family, and there hasn't been one in awhile so I think we will wait, of course I guess there is no true way of being 100% safe not to have tiwns....
If you release more than one egg when you ovulate then it is possible to have twins.
Thanks for all the insight. I wasn't too sure about everything, but I did look up ovulating twice and saw that was possible. Every month at Day 14 of my cycle, I get 'sickly' and my abdominal region hurts. I assume it is because I am ovulating. Last month that happened twice and I have a feeling that it may be happening again this month. We do want a baby, but I don't know if I want twins my first time around :) I guess if it is meant to be it is meant to be though, right.
I have also heard of women ovulating twice. Also, I heard a story on Discovery Health about a woman who got pregnant with twins and then a month or two later, ovulated during the pregnancy and got that egg was fertilized. She ended up having triplets, the third obviously being much younger than the twins. S
To become pregnant you do need to have sex tonight. Eggs only live about 24-48 hours.
yes by ovulating twice you can have twins there was a proven case of a woman that got pregnant with twins and lost one early during the pregnancy and still had two babies....how did it happen.....well after losing the one baby she ovulated again and conceived again and had 2 babies at the same time that were actually 2 1/2 weeks appart......so they actually weren't twins but still 2 babies at once....I can't remember the name of the lady but it was a true story.
yeah i wasnt so sure of the ovulating twice thing either..ive heard of releasing more than one egg (twins) but never ovulating twice...
ive never heard anyone ovulating twice?? are you sure??
i dont think timing of conception has any thing to do with having twins. it depends on if the cell divides into two. good luck to you!

Sorry I can't help. I didn't know the timing of conseption could determine multiple gestation.
