Could I be pregnant? Tried other sites - no one will give opinion - Please Help Me ... Thank you!!

Ok - Here's my situation. I've purposely skipped my period for July & August using my birth control pills (I've been on Low-Ogestrel since April 2010). I was on my second week of birth control pills this month and I missed a pill on Tuesday and Wednesday. On Wednesday my partner and I had unprotected sex twice and he did not pull out either time. I didn't realize I missed the pills until Thursday and I did not double up on these pills either. I was late by between 6 - 12 hours on taking my pill on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and missed taking my pill yesterday (Sunday). I did start bleeding on Thursday light at first and then heavier on Friday and Saturday and then back to light again Sunday and today. I'm not due for my "inactive" pills until next week (first week of October), but because I've skipped 2 periods, i know my cycle is all messed up. My main concern is if when I had unprotected sex on Wednesday and missing my 2 pills and being late on taking the pills for the rest of the week, what are my chances of being pregnant? And if there is a chance how long do i have to wait until i can take a pregnancy test? I don't know if the bleeding i was experienced is my period or not - I'm usually very consistant 7 days with a pretty heavy flow til the end, so i don't know if this bleeding is just because of missing my pills and skipping my previous periods ... i do know that for the past 2 days i've had a constant mild headache and have been soo tired. i usually don't ever take naps and don't ever get a full 8 hours of sleep ... yesterday i took a 4 hour nap during the day and slept 10 hours that night and then today i took a 5 hour nap and i'm ready to go back to sleep ... I do feel a bit sick to my stomach as well and my breast are a little tender ... but isn't it too early for pregnancy symptoms if I am?? and i would i still be spotting?? The whole tired thing is really just throwing me off ....Any information anyone could give would be extremely appreciated!! Thank you!

Hey there,
you are welcome, I like helping people. To answer your question, yes I did get the period when I came off for my break, this however might not be the case because obviously all the pills are different. My pill worked as I took them for 3 weeks and came off for 7 days and started again on the next pack, mostly I think if you oridinarily bleed on your inactive pills there will be a period again when you come off for your inactive pills this time. If you don't bleed then you can still test for pregnancy but it may just be a hormonal thing and you might be fine. I hope you get on ok and I hope everything goes well. good luck to you :)

Chrissymom - Thank you so much for your opinion ... Question since you've skipped you're period and have the bleeding due to putting off your period ... after experiencing the bleeding, did you get you're regular period on time? I start my "inactive pills" this upcomming Monday and usually i start my period by tuesday or wednesday at the latest ... if i do not get my period by wednesday should i be concerned of pregnancy or is that normal?? Thanks!! :)

Hey there, I would say from what you have said, there could be a small chance you have fallen pregnant, though I don't think you have to worry too much, The bleeding you experienced will most likely have been from you putting off your period, I have done it before (on the advice of my nurse) and I had the same thing. You will have to wait about 3 weeks or so to take an early pregnancy test to see if you have fallen pregnant or not, but like I said, I think you will be safe. Good luck and I hope you find the answer you are looking for :)

Shuga1109 - Thank you for your opinion. It is greatly appreciated ... Maybe heavy bleeding wasn't the best way to describe it ... it wasn't nearly has heavy as my normal period - so i guess i should have just said moderate. I guess because in my head it I was thinking it was some type of break through bleeding from skipping my period twice (which was the first time i've ever done this and was told that i could experience breakthrough bleeding) ... but if i was comparing it to my normal period flow then i would say it was definelty moderate and then the next few days was light.

Well, first of all, when women typically skip a pill or two, the first thing that happens is your hormone levels change and your body wants to start a period.  it might have been a period that you experienced, but everyone is different.  My ob always said that birth control helps shorten periods or keep it under control.  So, if you were on birth control for two months, your body was just beginning to adjust to the medicine.  if you typically bleed for seven days and this time it was only for about five days, it might have been because you skipped in the middle of your cycle.  However, it is still possible to get pregnant if you had unprotected sex.  My opinion is that you didn't get pregnant because you had some heavy bleeding.  If a woman was experienging bleeding during pregnancy, which is implantation bleeding, it would not start until approximately 6-12 days after ovulation or conception and the bleeding is normally light and spotty.  You began bleeding right away, which is consistent with missing your birthcontrol pills and getting a period.  Good luck.
