Could I be prgnant from switching my pills to Yaz generic?

I am now 5 days late for my period. I have had swollen, tender breasts for about 2 wks. Noticed blue veins on my breasts. Had slight cramping around the time I should have started but never had a period.

I just finished my second pill pack of the Yaz generic. I was on Yaz for a year and a half prior and on one pill or another for about 14 years. My friend said the symptoms could be from switching pills, but I thought there would not be a reaction since in theory they are the same.

Oh, and I took a hpt yesterday and got a negative result. I am a bit nervous to think and live as though I am not pregnant, but I don't want to be unrealistic either. any thoughts?

Not to stress you. But I got pregnant on the pill...And yes! I did take it everyday correctly. Just a baby that's meant to be!!

Thanks for all of your feedback! I was feeling more than a little stressed about the situation. I am now 6 days late but am pretty much convinced it is my pills. I am actually on Gianvi after being on Yaz and after reading some message boards am seeing that a number of women are experiencing similar symptoms after switching to this generic. The basic hormones are the same in both brands, but not the compounds that make up the pill. The FDA actually made them change their information to reflect the difference in ingredients. I guess I am just more sensitive to these particular pills.

Between the issues I am having and all of the negative information out there about Yaz, I am just going to stop taking the pill all together. I have been on it for 15 years. I think my body could use a break!

Although they claim to not have any difference, I was on Yasmin (brand name) for a while and then was switched too Ocella (Generic) and I did notice slight changes in my period. In fact, I never missed a single period on Yasmin, but did miss one while on Ocella. The blue veins, I mean if your fair skin like me, I notice the veins all the time. Sometimes they are bluer then normal, but you can't always go by that being a symptom of pregnancy.
Also it is not uncommon for us to sometimes miss a period in general, so being on the pill is the same thing. I asked my doctor when i missed my June period, he said it could just be one of those things...or maybe a cyst. It all worked out, because I got my July period on time. I would say wait it out another week, if no period take a test and see your doctor.

Generic pills have IDENTICAL ingredients to brand name drugs, so that should not be a factor here.

I didn't think that there was a Yaz generic...I was told that there wasn't anyway, but that's been a few years......
anyway. I have blue veins on my breasts too and I'm not pregnant, the first time I noticed them was when TTC so I thought for sure it was a sign, but they're normal in some people....
As far as any other symptoms, it's possible it's because of switching pills, if you had a time where you missed a few pills in between it could cause it, or just a switch in pills.  THey are made from different manufacturers I would guess so they could be slightly different.....

If you are really worried wait a week and test again.
I think that they suggest if you switch pills to make sure to use a condom for a month or so to make sure you don't have any accidents.....
