Could Prometrium be causing pregnancy bleeding?

I am now 4 1/2 wks pregnant. I have had 3 past m/c, but 3 healthy children since the last one. I found out Thurs. I was pregnant. I called my ob. He started me on Prometrium 200 mg vaginally per day. I started that Friday night. Sat. afternoon I had some brown spotting. Was checked at ER and everything ok. hcg was 17-they said was very early.They also checked my progesterone level.  Sat. night late had heavier red bleeding like period. Went back to ER they said was m/c most likely. Sunday afternoon had cramping and bleeding. Did not take Prometrium the night before due to being told I was having m/c. I called my OB Sunday. He said to keep taking the Prometrium and have my hcg rechecked Monday. I did. Monday my hcg was 44. My bleeding was only light spotting by then. My Doctor said I was still pregnant-could be tubal, molar, or normal. He did not know. He said Progesterone levels taken previous Saturday would tell if it was tubal or molar. Monday night my bleeding became heavier and red like period again. Lots of back pain and cramping. On Tuesday I was told my Saturday Progesterone levels were 17-very good. OB said to keep taking Prometrium and to take it twice daily due to bleeding. He said U/S would not show anything yet. Tuesday afternoon my bleeding stopped and did not start again until Wednesday morning. It is now Wednesday evening and my bleeding has stopped again. I was wondering if taking the Prometrium at night and in the morning could be triggering bleeding? This is not like any miscarriage I have ever had. I guess I am still pregnant. I tried to get my OB to do hcg again today (48 hrs) after last level to just give me some peace of mind either way. They told me to wait until next week for U/S. ANY advice is helpful!!!! Thank you. I am so confused.

Did you end up having a miscarriage? I am on Prometrium because I have had 3 previous miscarriages.  I am only 4 1/2 weeks along and started spotting last night.  I am still lightly spotting brown today.  I am so nervous that I am having another miscarriage and was just curious if you have had any luck since then. Is it possible to spot and have a healthy pregnancy while you are on prometrium? Any feedback would help. Thanks!

Prometrium doens't cause m/c actually it prevents it. Many women take prometrium to support pregnancy. Many women have low level of progesterone so they start prometrium.It is safe to take. I started having some brown spotts the day when i had to do the first beta and my RE started me on prometrium and the spotting stopped. If you're having a m/c is not because of prometrium.Check your levels to see if is a good pregnancy. Good luck
