latrice~ I have spasm's as well from an L5 injury... I am in pain constantly from it so I have to take a narcotic for it. (dr knows and approved it.)
With my son when I had HG I had keytones in my urine EVERY time they checked because I was always dehydrated I think. .
I'm sitting here at almost 11pm with a bottle of gatorade next to me.
And I know it's got sodium, but I don't drink much else... I'm not gaining alot of weight either. :) (1/2 the time I dilute the gatorade by 1/2 so that I'm getting less of the sugar and sodium)... I like vitamin water also.
I had this episode 2 weeks ago. I didnt no i was dehydrated, i was at work having contractions every 5 min for the last 3 hours of my shift, i called the OB and they told me to go to the ER. They hook me on monitor and said your uterus is irritable but you are not having contractions, more like cramps bcuz of dehydration, thats what the urine stick showed, ketones in urine. They told me i could stay and get iv fluids or go home and drink lots of water. I went home. Next day the pain was worser, i went back to er, nuffin they could do for me, told me i had no ketones so i must be drinking fluids ok, told me it may take a day or two b4 the cramps go away. It took 3 days for it to go away. You better beleive i have a jug of water at the side of my bed at night. I hate water, but i am drinking it like its my best friend. Not to add that i have back spasms, ihad this b4 i was preggo, so the spasms with the cramps i thought i was going to die. Just make sure you stay hydrated. Im 29 weeks now, this happened around 26/27 weeks.
Kimberlee~ Same here! they felt like horrible menstrual cramps/back ache... And they started minor like indegestion and then got horrible within like 5 to 10 min.. I'm definitely speaking to my doctor about it. But as of right now... they are all gone and I've been taking it easy all day.
I also had this problem at 16W, it turns out I was VERY dehydrated, my nurse actually told me I was going to go into labor and there was nothing they could do to stop it, but after drinking plenty of fluids and bedrest for a weekend I was fine, and after that I made sure to drink PLENTY of fluids regularly. My contractions felt like menstrual cramps/back ache, and they eventually got pretty painful - mention it to your doctor though!
